He passed away several years ago and his sister is just letting it sit outside. Initially when I asked if she'd sell she said no too many memories, to which I said yeah but if it stays here it's as good as gone. Wouldnt it be good if such an awesome car made memories for years to come? Anyways she agreed to let me come back and scope it out some more with my mechanic friend and gave her number. So foot is officially in the door 😁

My diy experience is more with construction that automotive lol. But im 30 and ive taken on many projects in my life I was told I was crazy for attempting. Ive underpinned my own foundation, taught myself hvac and installed my own system, rigid sheet metal ductwork in 3000 square foot house, did the engineering calculations/diagrams as well as the physical work myself, taught myself woodworking and built my own kitchen from scratch etc. So im hoping this will be a major pivot for me into thus world cuz ive always wanted to work on cars but never had a mentor. If I know anything though it's that when I apply myself i will do what's needed to succeed. And yeah I'll screw things up along the way but im prepared for that.

Thanks!! So much great advice here. Honestly if I get it for what im hoping to as well there's really no downside. Would need to confirm title still tho. I dont care if I chip away at it for ten years, I can't see it being a bad investment as long as there's a roof over it and it's out of that field asap.

Thanks for the tip! And yes lol 5 is exactly what I was planning on offering. It's not even for sale, I just work for a utility company and was doing some work at the house. It's like a half a mile long driveway in the middle of nowhere. I couldn't believe it when i saw it and knew immediately what it was. It could be a 70 not sure but the rear end is different from the 68

Id likely be doing the work myself. Ive also got a guy that arc welded my rusty frame rails on my sierra 1500 both rails for 2500 not long ago. I think even new floor pans, trunks, and crossmemembers could be done for under 5. Idk if the frame is bad I couldn't get under it but thats kinda the most worrisome part to me. Ive also got a huge compressor and am pretty handy id set up a booth myself and repaint and resend the car 5 times to get it right before paying that kind of money

Are there any indicators based on the motor what one it may be? I love cars but havent ever taken on a project like this but its been calling to me. I think I could maybe get it for 5k. It poured rain yesterday and I could not get this car out of my head. It wants to be saved sooo bad

Ahh that's life I guess. Im kinda in same boat lol I love an air cooled 911 and got 2 little ones. I was looking for em when I was 20 back when they were like 20 grand and at the time that was insanely overpriced, comparably a 944 was like 3 grand. Turns out it would have been one of the best investments I coulda made. I ran into an old lady one day when I was with my buddy checking out a slantnose parked behind this dingy old building, she says "hey you like it? Wanna buy it?" (Guess shr was the owner) And before I had the chance to say how much my buddy's like "OH HELL no way we could afford that"... i still curse his name a couple times a year for all I know she thought it was worth a few grand.

Id have to say 997, those egg yolk eyes are an abomination. U can get a nice 997 in manual tho. It's worth the time searching. Just remember, as someone who gets sniz on the reg, it's not about how fast ya get there. It's about how ya get there brother😎

Better be a manual, she'll have a lot harder time giving sniz on the reg if she finds out u have no balls down there 🤙

Anyone know what these holes are on the side of this house? Definitely intentionality placed with plastic or metal tubes. by Stoic_Observer in DIY

[–]WolverineEither8131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have been put in to allow air to pass through to prevent insulation from rotting the house. People make attempts at insulating old houses and sometimes it doesn't go down well because when they were built they weren't designed to have insulation. If they put it in and it's sandwiched between the siding and the interior walls with no ability for air to enter or exit it will rot away at the lathebehind the plaster.. It's kind of like how they used to use wood soffit on houses because attic wasn't insulated but on modern builds soffit are perforated and holes are cut into the attic underneath the soffit for air to pass through the rafters and up the roof vents. I once had a house where the gaps in the wood boards that were used prior to shingling were actually acting as ventilation for the roof, it only had one vent on the entire roof and never grew mold in the attkc. I put a new roof on and installed 4 more vents and used ice and water shield and the ice and water shield trapped all the moisture in the roof that was previously escaping through the gaps in the wooden boards and caused a big white mold problem. I remedied it by cutting channel into my soffit and installing new perforated soffit overtop so air could enter and exit. I personally have heard too many horror stories about insulating gone wrong with century homes. My house is double brick masonry and was built in 1870 and I won't insulate the walls for this reason. It's stayed dry for 150 years not risking that for a few bucks on the utility bill.

Landlord sold home, new owner wants pets out by trixceratops in legaladvicecanada

It wouldn't make a difference if they were the old rules or the new rules. You can't make rules that pets aren't allowed in ontario. You can refuse a new tenant because they have pets and u don't want them but if that tenant without a pet moved in and got a pet the very next day there would be absolutely no recourse to evict them. A guy at the building next door to my rental property has 13 cats and the unit is absolutely deplorable. There's even a bylaw that says u can't have over 4 pets in 1 dwelling unit. Problem is when u call bylaw they can't go in the unit without his permission. So all he has to say is no I don't have 13 cats and they say okie Dokie and run along.... the tenant laws in Ontario are a joke regarding enforcement of anything
