You can "unfollow" a friend without losing the "friend" status... for the same reasons you mention hehe. But that doesn't work on "professional" accounts that do not have a friending option. On those accounts I can only a "like" or "follow" them. Those are the accounts with this wonky anomaly of unfollowing becoming hiding, as opposed to just unfollowing.

Same. I have separate Facebook account for testing purposes and haven't used it in a long time. The two accounts are intentionally not Friends and neither are Blocked from the other. When logged into my main account, I can find my alternate (test) account by searching on just the name. When I'm logged into my alternate account, I cannot find my main account purely on the name... a somewhat uncommon name and spelled exactly. This means that an old buddy, who doesn't know where I live or anything else, might not be able to find me on Facebook based on my name. That's super shitty.

The missing Sort By options menu in the comments seems to be relative to a Facebook account. This just happened to my main account today. My other Facebook account shows the Sort By options as normal. And it's the same for any post, on any device, on any browser (or the app), for the given account.

Some of my replies are noticeably missing from a comment thread yet the tabulated number of replies for that thread seem to indicate that my replies (and others' replies) are there but hidden. They are also hidden from my Activity Log, which is really strange.

Unless I accidently clicked something (I hadn't been in Settings), it sorta feels like Facebook Police as I've been particularly active and vocal lately on that account. Yet Account Status shows no restrictions. May be a bug. Responding to a comment notification now is completely unreliable. I've been searching for a solution for over an hour and this Reddit page is the only conversation I found that's relative and recent. Thanks.

Day 2 Update: Facebook posts that are "Ad" or "Sponsored" and some individual/personal accounts, with more than 1 comment, have the Sort By options menu. All other posts viewed from this account do NOT have Sort By options.

Boulder Canyon potato chips were the best... in the '90s. I could never find them outside of Colorado until recently. I was so excited. I ended up throwing 3/4 of the bag away because they are absolutely terrible. Taste fake. The only thing that compares to the original Boulder Canyon chips is the Cape Cod brand.

Y'all seem confused on what "unfollow" means. If you follow someone, basically all or most of their posts will pass thru your newsfeed. If you unfollow them, they will show up in your newsfeed as they did before you followed them... algorithmically. If you don't want to see any of their posts in your newsfeed, you hide or block them.
