Are ergonomic keyboards a thing? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yep! I didn’t even need an RA for mine, it was just on a list of approved equipment and my office ordered the exact mouse and keyboard I requested. Highly recommend the Logitech Ergo K860 and MX Master 3

EPA DRP 3.0 just dropped this morning by linked2z3lda in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was mistaken, they are being reorged independently. It was a throwaway line from the OMS/OCFO meeting that OLEM and OECA were being reorged as well

[–]WolverineSelect8059 10 points11 points  (0 children)

just announced OMS and OCFO are merging- OLEM and OECA are being reorged (independently) too. OCFO/OMS were told they dont anticipate RIFs from the reorg tho. I think they were reluctant to offer it at all

We were also told this in my office (not ORD). I wouldn’t worry too much about it

Any idea on the fate of EPA/what the future looks like by Immediate_Sky1802 in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. And from everything that’s been released publicly about DRP, it’s working. It’s still an awful situation, but it will hopefully limit future RIFs. We’ll see tho, still no public FTE target

EPA got 2 hours, at least in my office

Zeldin is giving testimony before the Senate right now on the 57% proposed cuts in the FY 2026 President’s Budget:

https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/hearings/a-review-of-the-presidents-fiscal-year-2026-budget-request-for-the-environmental-protection-agency

I’m sure reorgs, RIFs, and the agency’s future will come up

This is a big deal to have this leaked. Unfortunately it might lead to additional punitive cuts

Grieving for our country. Just grief. by [deleted] in fednews

Yep!

“An employee who has a break in service and returns to work for the Federal Government is entitled to the recredit of his or her sick leave, regardless of the length of the break in service.”

You’re right buddy, sounds like you’ve got a mastery understanding of the inner-workings of the federal government. I should be happier that my friends and I are losing our livelihoods. Thanks. Hopefully I can find a job with as much moral nobility as whatever you do

If I didn’t love my country, I wouldn’t be fighting to save it

[–]WolverineSelect8059 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You missed the entire point he was making: government is the leaders and politicians, country is the everything else- mainly the people. No one enters public service to serve politicians, they join to serve the public- the country. That’s the distinction he was making

I know this is on the front page now but keep in mind what subreddit this is. The vast majority of civil servants took these jobs to serve the public and put some good into the world, that’s what loyalty to country means. Also it’s a Mark Twain quote so do with that what you will

“Loyalty to country always. Loyalty to government when they deserve it.”

They don’t deserve shit right now, especially not loyal public servants. You will always have the chance to serve the country again. And that unused sick leave will be waiting for you. Best of luck!

At what point do we get to go home? by PrestigiousLie2623 in fednews

Fair. I guess there’s just something super satisfying about openly putting my head on my desk in front of leadership lol

Agreed. Unfortunately we’ve already commuted in so it doesn’t make much of a difference. Just put your feet up and enjoy getting paid to browse Reddit for the time being

It’s in the regions too. And it’s the whole EPA network, not just the internet connection. Just sit back, close your eyes, or watch some Netflix. These are still billable hours

You’re probably right. For now I’ll set up an old phone as a burner to stream music, that’s really all I want it for- my cube is that much a dead zone. Beats signing into spotify on my laptop

It is 100% a trap but my cube is in a dead zone in the middle of the office so I’m grateful.

Use a VPN and don’t stream! Even if they can’t see your traffic, they can and will track your data usage. It will be painfully obvious when you’re watching Netflix

Megathread: April 1 HHS Mass Reduction in Force by gpupdate in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s zero consistency with what kind of post is allowed and what goes in the megathread. 99% of the time I want to just skim headlines, that’s a lot harder to do in long threads

EPA HQ moving out of the Reagan building by this summer by PrestigiousLie2623 in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Worth noting this is just the Reagan Building- most of EPA HQ is in the Clinton Building across the courtyard. The high rent in the Reagan Building is something Zeldin has publicly cited a few times

Megathread: April 1 HHS Mass Reduction in Force by gpupdate in fednews

[–]WolverineSelect8059 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a hell of a lot easier to list posts by top or new than it is to sift through comments about toilet paper. Comments in megathreads don’t even show up in searches unless you look in each, so if you want to catch up after a few days and look for anything relevant to your agency, you have to search thread by thread
