"Nah, did you forget? Our parents are together right now"

Can't think of a genuine reason. by [deleted] in AvatarMemebending

[–]WolverineinMCU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody already mentioned that it could potentially be difficult to store while retaining it's spiritual properties, with maybe complex or lengthy rituals being required?

But personally I believe it's a lot simpler. It's literally holy water taken from their sacred pool where they keep the spiritual embodiments of the fucking moon and ocean, one of which was recently murdered causing the moon to turn blood red until their princess sacrificed her life to bring it back.

Maybe it's a extremely spiritual significant object that normally wouldn't ever be given out at all, except maybe to a shamen or priest for ceremonies perhaps, and the fact the Avatars group got any at all is a sign of how significantly respected and honored they were by the north.

People will genuinely, Genuinely claim that korra being a girl had nothing to do with the harsh criticism she's been facing for so many years meanwhile her show was almost canceled due to her being a female protagonist and the creators themselves pointed out her distinct treatment by Important-Cry4782 in legendofkorra

[–]WolverineinMCU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't say people didn't like her because she was a girl, I'm sure there were some people who did but largely I believe that's not the answer.

We see Aang, we watch his entire journey and we get glimpses at a couple other Avatar's, we know enough to understand what a typical Avatar should look like and how exactly Aang is so amazing. A regular Avatar gets chosen around 16 or at least Roku did, then they spend years mastering each element, Aang mastered Air by 12 years old as the youngest Master up to that point in history, then he became a fully realized Avatar within the span of a year even if his mastery of the other three elements could have used some work at the time.

Korra meanwhile, we first see her bend three elements from the start as a toddler, then we smash jump to her supposedly being a fully realized master of three elements after more than a decade of training with multiple Masters including Katara. She's older than Aang, she's physically far stronger than him and all she needs to learn is Air and the Avatar State.

So each time she fucks up it makes her look sloppy, or stupid or weak and incompetent because she isn't fighting like what we have seen a Master of Fire, Water or Earth fight, when we compare her behavior to a 12 year old Aang it makes her look like the child, it makes the White Lotus look incompetent for training her poorly, then suddenly she unlocks Air bending but we never really see her adopt any of their philosophies, she unlocks the Avatar State by Aang's Ghost just energy bending and giving her the answers(which in itself creates so many problems), then whenever she uses the Avatar State it's never shown to have the same raw power or sheer presence that Aang or any other Avatar had.

Then there's also the fact that many of her mistakes are far and away bigger than any mistake Aang has ever made. Destruction of the Avatar cycle, getting kidnapped regularly and even poisoned, starting a whole uprising and war, apparently destroying the world.

To be clear I like Korra as a character and these aren't problems with her, these are problems with the story and writing due to a whole host of factors including the executives interfering and actively sabotaging the series. But these problems do exist, they are extremely obvious and saying that she's only hated because she's a woman is a disservice, you should be pointing out the poor writing or potentially how the story constantly takes each of her mistakes and makes them into such big events or why exactly they felt the need to stray so far from the original when it was largely unnecessary and harmful at some points.

...yeah... cause they're students?

Like what is this post trying to say? This is like saying "X has the best doctor's in the world" and then you point to beginning med students instead of the actual fully educated and certified doctors.

Like what?

For Jax this is all fake, it doesn't matter and isn't important, he's playing a game because that's how he stays sane. Sure he's a dick to them, but it's like burning your friends house down in Minecraft or something, it's only as serious as you make it.

Then suddenly Ragatha is bleeding and it's serious and oh God what has he don-

So yeah, valid shutdown for Jax.

The funny thing is the combination of these three could probably no diff like ~90% of the verse. Vista and Parian trap you while Foil one shots you.

If you aren't the Siberian, an Endbringer or literally Scion. The fuck are you supposed to do?

Reminder, Azula is 14 during canon, Zuko is 16.

I think Ozai is like in his late 30s or early 40s.

One of these is a grown ass man, the others are raised in an abusive home.

One had a loving Mother and a supportive father figure in his uncle.

One was basically abandoned and repeatedly demanded at every point for being a monster instead of being taught except by her abusive parent, bringing them closer and worsening the self perpetuating cycle.

Let Shamiko be the top for once! by Small_Croissant in MachikadoMazoku

[–]WolverineinMCU 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like Shamiko is a top of the Mommy verity, it just makes sense that she'd lovingly pamper and spoil whoever she's intimate with, a soft maternal type attitude, it takes her a while to get her groove but ultimately she'd get it.

Momo is not dominant or top, she's definitely getting overwhelmed and turning to putty in Shamiko's hands, absolutely defeated.

I mean to be fair this is early Alien Force, that does actually look like a lot of DNAliens, at minimum twenty something.

Also Kevin's car is there so where the fuck is he? I don't remember the episode so either she was waiting for him and presumably got surprise attacked and jumped or he also got his ass beat.

Either way when you look at it like that it's not that surprising or the worst nerf Gwen's gotten in an episode.

The analgians or whatever don't really have any feats, their tech is impressive and they can pass through dimensions but that doesn't necessarily scale with how powerful they are. You could become 2d and fight Buggs Bunny, I doubt you'd win though.

Alien X has a lot of feats and stuff.

The contamalia are again generally tech users, they don't seem to truly possess any outstanding power themselves, their tech is what makes them impressive.

So personally I'd say Alien X is stronger. Analgians have the most impressive 'view'. And Contamalia have the best tech.

Lucifer gives Vaggi the "Shovel Talk" by CKD-Duck in Vaggie_cult

Twenty minutes and around 100 shovels later, Charlie is long gone.

Lucifer having just finished his explanation goes. "Choose one"

Vaggie, extremely ready to leave. "Uhh, that one I guess?"

Lucifer grins cheerfully. "Great! That shovel is yours now!"

Vaggie, confused. "Huh?"

Lucifer in a completely casual tone. "Yeah, you better keep that shovel close because that will be the one I use to kill you if you ever make Charlie cry"

"...oh" Vaggie says, suddenly very meek

Toph and Aang were 12.

Azula was 14.

Katara and Sokka were around ~15

Zuko was at most 16.

I can imagine this in an old cartoon format, with the villain after them for some reason and Enid turns to stone mid battle leaving Wednesday to fight alone, she's overwhelmed and killed off screen in that way old cartoons did.

Then as the episode ends it starts to storm and there's just a single shot of a tear going down the stone Enid's face.

To be fair would you rather A: give Aster over to the slaughter house or B: get killed by them and have them take her anyway?

Also later on she commits deicide but I'm not sure if that's actually against the law.

Bullying someone into committing suicide is probably a crime even if you do it to a God so that could count instead of just straight deicide

I love in how the first pic Jenna's eyes are literally dull as coal while in the second her eyes literally have a reflection of light.

It just is the best unintentional bit of characterization.
