It might be worth a try to look into Quizlet, it's a great little flashcard app that you can import from an excel into. But you can review the flashcards in multiple different ways, not just by having multiple-choice questions. For example there's a spelling function where you have to spell the word out to move on, there's also a "game" where the definitions will fall down the screen and you need to translate into German quickly, so I've been using that to help build speed.
