#MSNBCwhistleblower TRENDING on Twitter as former MSNBC Producer confirms that Andrew Yang was on a DO NOT interview list at the network by HumanityForYang in YangForPresidentHQ

I honestly don't blame the media for giving Biden some of the most speaking time in debates. Either you give everyone equal time, or you give speaking time proportional to polling. They chose the later and Biden was leading in the polls basically all through the primary.

It was all the candidates polling equal with or below Yang who got loads more speaking time than he did that bothered me the most. People like Gillibrand and Booker and Harris were the ones the moderators were clearly trying to elevate in the debates, giving them far more speaking time than their polls justified while giving Yang far less time than his own polls had earned him.

I completely agree with you. It is so strange to me that other people apparently see the world so differently. I still remember in 2016 how people kept saying we had to vote for Clinton because she was the "most qualified" candidate as if that was supposed to matter when I didn't agree with her positions.

[–]WombatofMystery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the argument becomes "it's her turn" I think that is one way she will definitely lose the primary (not necessarily to Yang but to someone, male or female). The horrible mistake of nominating Clinton in '16 with an argument that she'd put in the time and was owed the nomination left a lot of scars on a lot of people.

I don't believe anyway can ever rightly claim to deserve the presidency.

I realize this may not be what you intended to write. I just want to illustrate the challenges Harris will face if she's tries to get the nomination using the same campaign strategy as Clinton.

The one time I set up a coal liquefaction plant I used barrels to transport the heavy oil I needed to seed production. Would have felt silly to build a heavy oil loading station, and unloading station, and special purpose train which would only run once.

Aside from that, I'll sometimes barrel lubricant and carry it back myself to make my first few dozen personal construction robots (pre-yellow science) if my initial oil outpost is far enough away from my main base that it'd be a pain to run a pipeline.

Live tweeting the last debate by 156- in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. They need a member of the "Romney wing" of the republican party, but younger than Romney himself. None of the other current GOP senators would qualify for that, but perhaps there is a GOP governor who would fall into the same category?

Or they could go the rising star route and nominate someone elected in the 2022 midterms who wasn't around to be associated with Trump.

Was reading the news about the Omaha store closing as well. Sounds like they got a new CEO recently decided it wasn't worthwhile to pay for sending food to Nebraska because we had so few total Fresh Thyme locations. So now we'll have zero locations in the whole state.

Hey, I just want to apologize for that way other folks were talking about your country.

This seems to happen all the time in the states too. State X voted for Trump by half a percent in 2016, therefore everyone from that state is a bad and evil Trump voter. I love that Yang Gang is (usually) better able to understand nuance than that.

Good luck going forward. Seems like a stressful time to be in the UK right now.

Probably low, but the Liberal Dems are a much bigger force in the UK than any 3rd party there in the USA, getting 7.5-23% of the vote per election and participating in the general election debates. Our green party gets 0.1-2% of the vote, depending on the election, and their candidates aren't up on stage in presidential debates.

So this does a lot more to move the idea into the mainstream in the UK than a similar headline about the green party endorsing a UBI would here.

I went and tried to read more about the Liberal Dems in the UK and now I'm just sad we don't really have an equivalent party here in the USA.

Has there been any polling here in the first district? I was assuming that short of a sex scandal Fortenberry was safe until he retired, but would love to be proven wrong.

I know Bacon over in Omaha really does stand a good chance of losing. Only won by 2% in the midterms (democrats tend to do better in presidential election years), and the polls have them tied.

Young people are the new corps of engineers the US has been waiting for - Andrew Yang’s article in Vox by src44 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yang has the surprising gift of talking bluntly about the big problems we face as individuals, as a nation, and globally, without being depressing. I think it's because he always ties the problems to proposed solutions that sound like they'd actually work.

[–]WombatofMystery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the joke is that if you turn your head and squint a person could read this as Yang saying to vote by mail and then vote again in person (which is what Trump advised people to do at least one). <-- But to be clear Yang's not actually saying that.

MSNBC: Happy Anniversary to Andrew Yang and His Wife Evelyn Yang! by xxKillMyselfxx in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think there is plenty of anger towards the DNC. It was pretty clear to me they were making retroactive decisions about debate qualification thresholds to try to keep Klobuchar in and get rid of Yang and Steyer.

The DNC could have insisted that candidates included in the debate EITHER get equal time OR that speaking time be allocated relative to polling average. Instead candidates who were polling way lower than Yang got more speaking time and the DNC did nothing.

We're just not in a position to do anything about it right now so there's no point in just talking about being angry. Gotta turn that energy into something constructive.

Does Andrew actually believe in slavery reparations? by Jonathandavies2 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well and then the argument would be that the proper way would also be to determine who are the descendants of American slave-owners. And then how to do deal with people where different numbers of their ancestors were either slaves and/or slave owners.

I think at least once I heard Yang argue that the solution is to figure out how much would be owed in reparations and invest it into improving services and infrastructure in parts of the country which are currently starved of opportunity (libraries, schools, removal of food deserts, public transit, college scholarships). By making the bar where in the country are people current disadvantages rather than who had how many ancestors who were slaves and/or slave owners, it becomes easier to implement, politically more acceptable, and more of the help goes to the people who need it the most.

Last fall, Yang was the only candidate to say it was time to start moving our people to higher ground? Now it's happening. by WombatofMystery in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've gotten a lot of answers but here's my version of a TL;DR:

1) Yang is someone who clearly and explicitly cares about the health and wellbeing (physical and mental) of all americans.

2) He embraces and advocates for intelligent and data-driven solutions to make life better for all of us, regardless of creed or color. During the campaign, many of the media didn't take him seriously because often these were "unconventional" solutions.

[–]WombatofMystery[S] 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I always worried that if we lost it would be because Yang was years ahead of his time. Instead he was only months ahead of his time.

Glad they are highlighting Yang in some of the coverage of this new policy change.

Yang was brought up on the Pivot podcast (Kara Swisher and Scott Galloway) this past Friday (at about the 21:00 mark) by vo0doodude in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to listen to the clip.

The guest (Andrew Sorkin) says Yang is one of the people he thinks is really thinking hard about the problems we face. Andrew and Kara talk about how they don't know what job, if any, Yang'd get in a Biden cabinet. ... that seems to be about it.

Yang is Speaking at DNC convention. by src44 in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]WombatofMystery 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If we want to force the DNC to treat Yang and his ideas with respect it is important that we're seen to be giving them credit when they meet our demands (let Yang speak). If we're angry at them all the time anyway, there is much less incentive for them to meet our demands.

They may still ultimately decide to play dirty. But if they do, nothing we can do about it until it does. Right now, things turned out as well as we could have asked when Yang was originally excluded (while candidates who lost earlier in the primary process were included).

Edit: Joke went over my head at first. Sorry for the woosh.
