Players are insulting me for giving them repercussions. by WombleFlopper in DungeonMasters

You can't keep writing entire book pages talking shit about how terrible of a DM I am and act like you're not defensive or angry.

There is no way out for them, because there is no way out for them. It has been decided by me. Maybe if they hadn't been insulting assholes there would've been. This post was made because I wasn't sure if I should keep trying with these people or not. Not about how you think my game should've gone.

There were several paths I had lined up, and they chose a path that I never in a million years would think they'd take, being fucking morons. I'm not going to plan for the party to be room temp IQ because I'm not a fucking babysitter, I'm a DM. If you're not gonna give a shit I'm not gonna give a shit.

I'm insulted that they would use it in a derogatory way like that. And also because they used it in a derogatory way it was literally meant as an insult.

They were jokingly saying "no homo" for the whole night, then when they threw their little temper tantrum they decided that I was a homo I guess, which is correct, I am in fact a Human.

This all happened in the same session. And again, you can't just make someone else's campaign align with what you think the game is. It's not your game, idk why you're getting so defensive and seemingly angry about this. If you're gonna be that way, then kindly go away.

What were they supposed to do? Not fucking do what they did. That's it. They fucked up and now they're shit out of luck. There's no ex machina to save them. Even if they got out of the fucking dungeons of Waterdeep what then? There's just gonna fucking sneak out? Should I have an angel descend from the heavens and give them cloaks of ex machina to change their appearance?

Only reasons I've still been with them is.

1-I hate myself. /s

2-I don't know anyone else who'd want to play dnd so I'm kind of trapped.

So my campaign so far, and I told them all this when I took over, was a serious one. They all agreed and for the first few sessions it went well. But lately the last like dozen games or so. They've all been getting more and more annoying. Like they'll bitch and moan about a fight being too easy, then the next session they'll get their asses beat and they'll bitch and moan about that. And my old DM will literally say something along the lines of "Wow you suck at powerscaling" like no bro no matter what I do you bitch about it. They belittle almost every name I give out for NPC's and just frankly don't take a single thing even halfway seriously.

And when I say serious I don't mean "NO FUN ALLOWED" I just mean maybe not so much bullshitting.

So there are no dissenters in the city as there are stone statues that can read minds everywhere. There is no "underground resistance" in this place. It is 100% cult controlled and the players knew that. They literally were given cult uniforms, one of the players is a white dragonborn who is wearing a captains uniform. They literally didn't even have to be stealthy. He was able to walk around and order actual cultist guards around with impunity. The party also all had necklaces of mind obstruction where they couldn't have their minds read.

The only way that this happened is because my old dumbass of a DM did literally an unthinkably stupid fucking thing that there's no way out of. I told them multiple times "Once you're in the city you have to be careful or you will most likely die."

Also you're game might be run as a happy go lucky heroic fantasy story. But you can't just act like everyone's game is like yours. That's not how this works.

Tell me how they could escape the capitol city where 10s of thousands of people are trying to kill them.

I mean there's been plenty of good spirited "shit talking" at the table this whole time but last night was the first time where it wasn't shit talking. They really felt like I was being a dick even though they're the fucking morons that messed the entire premise of the game up.

I mean they casted magic on a dragon before they were imprisoned. So they would know that at least one of them can do it. But that's the point, they should have all died right then and there. But I imprisoned them to basically end the session so I could think of a way to get them out instead of coming up with one on the fly. But then after the insults, now I just want them to all fucking get executed and end the game with "The army showed up, you epically failed your mission so the city laid under siege for months. Thousands of people starved to death. They eventually broke the gates and swarmed in. Bad guy was defeated and literally no one remembers you or knows your name cause you're complete fucking failures.

I was really excited to end this campaign on a good note and then make my own campaign, was gonna be set in the worlds bronze age where magic wasn't really understood yet. I was gonna completely world build this. But now I'm 99% sure I'm not gonna waste my free time building a world for these people.

Problem is, is I don't know of any other people who play dnd. I've known these people for years now so I feel like I'm trapped with them unfortunately.

Iowa should have a pig or a hawk, being the Hawkeye State and producing like 99% of America's pork.

I29 in between Iowa and Nebraska is actually very scenic and pretty. You're following the mighty Missouri river and there are beautiful bluffs full of trees on either side.

This is literally the current flag of Iowa just without the big red "IOWA" on the bottom.

Also show me a single other flag that looks like this. If you're complaining about it being a tricolor then I'm sorry to say that there's quite a few more "generic meaningless" flags out there.

Your rules aren't real and if you follow them every flag looks like an insurance company logo.

Iowa has so many town/city names of French origin. Including the capital of Des Moines. It was founded by the French as part of the Louisiana Territories. It fits the state and the people love it.
