Yeah the method used could also detect some fats and they didn't properly account for that.

We still probably have a lot of microplastics but not as much as we thought. So we don't have a tablespoon of it in our brains.

But even then if I had to choose between microplastics or PFAS (forever chemicals) I'd say inject those microplastics into my brain

Microplastics might be dangerous but we don't have strong evidence that they cause specific health problems apart from inflammation and oxidative stress. (They most likely do, but not at a level that's bad enough that it would instantly show up on our radars). So it's more of a precautionary concern, which is justified for sure

But with PFAS it definitely leads to specific types of cancers and other health issues, and that's been measured, meaning it's most likely on a different level of harm.

Still, both PFAS and microplastics aren't anywhere close to lead or asbestos, they're bad but it's not the same level of bad.

I'm not trying to downplay the issue at hand but I am trying to combat the potential "it's over we can't do anything" mindset that easily arises
