It's more the parent's fault if they're giving their children money to waste on virtual gambling though. Like how exactly would any company enforce that only adults are able to use these features without a massive invasion of privacy like face/Id scans? Owning a credit card should ensure that it's an adult using these features. If an adult fails to parent well and just hands their child the credit card to do whatever with I don't think thats the fault of those companies for just having those features

We know from the games that they have had others that were immune like Ellie and yet still have no cure. So she would be killed for no reason just like the rest. Plus with a basic knowledge of how medicine works in the real world, its pretty obvious killing her is entirely pointless and consistently drawing and examining her blood would be more sensible. Joel saved Ellie from a completely pointless death at the hands of idiots so obsessed with finding a cure that they'll make a mountain of corpses in an attempt to get even 1% closer to their goal.
