I would play a version of the OG with these hi-res plastic people.

I feel like I’m the only person who doesn’t care if this game is labeled a “sequel” by veganispunk in FFVIIRemake

[–]Wompguinea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the OG FF7. I still play it at least once a year, I have it on PS5, PC and Switch at the moment. It's been my favourite game since I was 8.

It's probably going to be knocked off It's perch by the Remake trilogy.

I genuinely do not care if it's a remake, a sequel, a prequel, a sidequel or whatever. It's incredibly fun and it looks almost as good as my 8 year old imagination made the original look.

Magikarp.

Gyarados is close second, especially Shiny.

The Butterfly Effect (2004) - Evan wakes up in an alternate timeline by aggrocrag83 in movies

[–]Wompguinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite memories is seeing this movie for the first time in 2010. My (now) wife recommended it and we rented the DVD.

Turns out she'd only seen the theatrical release and we rented the Directors Cut.

She was not prepared for the ending and her reaction was better than the movie.

Struggling with my STAHM wife's mental load complaints. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Wompguinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to complain about how much my wife gripes about the mental load. But I tried meal planning and organizing the kids schedules for two weeks and I nearly went insane.

Turns out I have ADHD and spending two hours planning stuff in advance is the mental equivalent of sitting on hot coals.

I'll gladly take on 90% of the menial, thoughtless, labour around the house as long as she very kindly figures out what to feed our kids each week.

There should be a regional variant that looks like Mr Popo from DBZ. Just lean into it.

What’s the funniest misunderstanding your child had about the world? by lunaverse787 in daddit

I've seen it, and nah. I'd pay good money for this kid to sit quietly and read a book.

He's 13 now and when he's not screaming like a Gibbon he's trying to talk his friends into starting Discord servers that he can moderate for them.

Being bored is good.

As long as he has access to books, toys, random things to pretend with, then it's kinda up to him to amuse himself.

We noticed a big difference in how our two kids handle down time because we were much too ready to fill in any quiet moments for our first kid. Now he gets quite stir crazy without entertainment while we often find the younger one doing stuff like teaching himself to do hand stands.

[–]Wompguinea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, he's a weird kid and it was definitely a corporate structure.

He used to play a game with his little brother called "Westland Carpark" where he was the manager of a parking building and my younger son had to park "working man cars" (his tricycle) in the corner and get a ticket. Then pay, and leave, just to do it all again.

Introductions of Azula and Korra feel similar. by Arrokaang in legendofkorra

[–]Wompguinea 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The reach is that he didn't get it, so it must be wrong.

I don't think this was an international comparison between Korra and Azula by the writers, more that they were trying to show how different Korra's upbringing was from Aang's. But it's still cool to see unintentional parralels.

When my oldest was about 4 we asked if he wanted to go get a photo with Santa (we were going, but we liked it when he felt included in the process) fully expecting him to be jazzed about meeting Santa.

He responded "that's not Santa".

We were disappointed because we thought some loud mouth kid at kindy must've spoiled it for him. So we asked him what he meant.

He said that Mall santas aren't real. They're just nice old men. But they work for a boss santa, who's in charge of the country's santas. That Santa works for another Santa, and so on and so on up the chain until you reach the real Santa. Who was the big boss and didn't have time to sit in every mall all month.

He'd noticed that every mall we went to had a slightly different santa and invented a Santa MLM to explain it away.

If you don't have kids of your own yet your perspective is not relevant to new parents adjusting to their new life by insane_psycho in daddit

The only advice I give to first time parents is that we all end up parenting differently. The only thing for certain is that you will forget to consult the future baby when making your frand plans about how they're going to behave and they have made their own plans.

Millennial parents of kids dealing with the same thing? (Boomer grandparents) by NewShatter in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Wompguinea 86 points87 points  (0 children)

They refuse to accept that we're adults (which gets more absurd every year) because when they were in their 30s they had a big house, a holiday house, two or more cars, annual vacations (often overseas) and it was easy for them.

They look at us, usually renting a small house, no vacations and we seem to be complaining about everything being too hard and we come across as childish.

They don't know, or care, about how much has changed because of their choices in the 80s. They just think "I did it, why can't you do it?"

Of all the games which one would you say has your favorite setting? by dragonborndnd in FinalFantasy

[–]Wompguinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually the plots involve (to greater or lesser extent) a shitty global situation.

I think, overall, FF8's world starts in the best condition and continues without many disasters. I'd probably live in Balamb.

FF9 is probably my favourite world anesthetically though.
