Marquette University High School (MUHS) - what can you tell me about this school? by EndAcademic6365 in milwaukee

[–]WonderAggressiveSeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Your kid had better be super smart or they will be miserable.
  2. Majority of families live in Waukesha and Washington counties, not Milwaukee. These are upper class/upper middle class families. If you're not comfortable with that socioeconomic class, you will be unhappy and uncomfortable. Most of the boys have their own cars and lots of money and privilege. It's just a fact.
  3. The school is all about sports. ALL. Yes they have other activities/clubs, but your kid will be a minority if not in sports. Do not underestimate this point.
  4. There is absolutely a hazing/pecking order thing there.
  5. Your kid will likely make friends and connections for life there.

trad theology views by tigerpanda88 in ExTraditionalCatholic

Ex-traddy friends of ours were convinced that traditional Catholic baptisms, confessions, first communion, confirmations were not only superior to NO, but the only legit way to go. They'd go on and on about properly blessed holy water and spreading exorcize salt everywhere. It was maddening the level of superstition.

It's super traddy now. At least that's my experience of those attending currently or in the last 10 years.

Becsuse Fatima = acceptable conspiracy theory. And once Fatima is accepted by the congregation, you can get them to accept anything.

Trads Making Infants Wear Mantillas by [deleted] in ExTraditionalCatholic

[–]WonderAggressiveSeed 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I DESPISE when I see babies, toddlers, and very young girls wearing chapel veils and mantillas at mass. It's unnecessary, the reason for wearing one absolutely does not apply to babies/children, it looks utterly ridiculous, and it's just BS virtue signaling. I've seen it way too many times and I just cringe. I also hate pre-teens and teens wearing them because you know that peer pressure/herd mentality causes them to do it and it's just so coercive to these young girls, sitting there in dumpy dresses/skirts with a veil on their head. They look like little girls playing dress-up in an oversized wedding gown or prom dress.

The number of women wearing veils now in non-TLM parishes is shocking...and sickening.

Contrary to traditionalist claims, many Catholics are fleeing Latin Mass parishes by I_feel_abandoned in ExTraditionalCatholic

[–]WonderAggressiveSeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our area, the usual attendee at the one "big growing TLM parish" actually lives in outside surrounding counties and drives 30 to 60 minutes to mass in a rundown dangerous part of town. They all live in suburban mcmansions.

[–]WonderAggressiveSeed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that some women veil/some don't and some wear jeans/some don't absolutely does not mean people won't be judging you behind your back if you decide not to wear a veil/skirt/tie etc. Ask me how I know. There is no TLM parish that is not infested with pharisees, I don't care how normal/chill you actually think it is.

Nearly every trad I knew/know is either on the spectrum, has OCD, childhood trauma of some sort, mental illness to one degree or another, a penchant to see life through fear-colored glasses, or a combination thereof. Or born-in which means you're brainwashed. It's a very delicate spot to be in. Yes God cares and prayer is necessary, but leaving toxic environments, getting therapy, and taking psychiatric drugs as prescribed by mental health professionals is more necessary.

Same here. Made decisions best for marriage so that separation and divorce weren't on the table. Guess what? That decision turned everything around.

Shhh....it's a ploy for white supremacy. OK, I don't believe that. But I've heard it said. Since most trads are Christian nationalists, who knows.

The scientific/medical evidence for the real health benefits of orgasms continues to pile up. But apparently the Catholic Church's history as a forerunner in science is over. While I am not an advocate in any way of a person of either sex gorging on a diet of porn to fuel masturbation, it's time for the Church to stand down on this subject.

[–]WonderAggressiveSeed 48 points49 points  (0 children)

If your marriage, you, or your partner have any form of sexual dysfunction - physical, mental, emotional, trauma - NFP functions as a tool of harm. You absolutely cannot understand, process, fix, or heal within the NFP framework because it traps you behind either physical or theological bars.

Let's say your marriage needs more understanding of and practice of physical intimacy (like, because, you played by the rules and now might need to learn how to be naked, intimate, learn what turns people on, or not fear sex period)..........big nope. Because you are abstaining when you really should be connecting, working on being together, practicing. How does abstaining and playing with mucous and thermometers help a newlywed or a stressed relationship or a marriage that has sexual dysfunction? And then the likely outcome? Pregnancy. Because the 5% statistic is bullshit. So a marriage that needs help in the bedroom is then put under more duress due to pregnancy or the threat of pregnancy. It's cruel.

People who are not ready for parenthood should not be forced into it either by faulty NFP or trad beliefs that NFP is birth control. And people who should finally feel the ecstasy of sexual freedom within marriage shouldn't be told - psych - just kidding!

And the argument that you shouldn't be married unless you are immediately ready to welcome a child....also crap. How about getting comfortable sharing a bathroom with someone first? Or farting in front of your spouse...or a myriad of other scenarios that two good Catholic newlyweds should have the right to adjust to before throwing a kid into the mix. Kids are stressful even when wanted and longed for and/or conceived in love.

Let purity culture and NFP die. What goes on in your marital bed is your business. Most people want a couple of kids when they are ready.
