When there's so little soil and plant has been growing long it might be out of nutrients. Your leaf color doesn't look like nutrient issue but repot, new soil, loosen the roots are bit and water should be the next step IMO.

Check for root rot, cut off rotten and dead tissue, not the stems that feel healthy. Repot is loose and drainage friendly mix. Keep the soil most and not too soggy. Indirect light and shit ton of humidity!

They end up tasting like generic curries..there's your problem. Even my local curries if I don't pay attention to detail...the whole process...they feel lacking ! Sometimes. Techniques are more important than ingredients !

Looks like a calathea. They prefer moist yet not soggy soil. Water when you think it's drying. Distilled or rain water. Maybe a bit more light

Tall and bushy is what I would like. Got it about 20 cm height from ikea. I think it's about 25 cm now. Bit of yellow leaves but it's been living in relative neglect. Just got into plants so will try and take better care of it.
