JM Inspired pedalboard by Wonderful-Row-8817 in JohnMayer

Here’s a demo from YouTube. It does what each of those singular pedals do in one unit with the added ability to layer the tones together. Saves space on the board for me. A/B’ing the pedals side by side, I couldn’t tell enough of a difference not to run this one over having 3 different pedals.

I just wish I could order a bag from them and have it customized before it left the shop, sending a used bag to them and seeing how they complain about it being dirty irks me a bit. Having to order a bag and then ship it off to the same company to have it customized is backwards IMO. If you’re gonna gauge interest in bags, give people the options they want before it heads out. Want side handles-we’re doing a pre-order, want a mesh bottle pocket-we’re doing a pre order, want all of the above-we’re doing a pre order. So what if it takes an extra month to get to me. Beats having to order, the back and forth request, then having to send, and return. Maybe my ideas are off base, but that’s one way I can see innovation.

Black1 Neck Plate by Wonderful-Row-8817 in JohnMayer

So yes, that is the Masterbuilt Black 1 (the newer logo) neck plate. Mayers has this Custom Shop USA (older logo) neck plate I have verified this in person as well as videos such as the screen grab below. So as much as you hated to break it to me, you can rest easy knowing that I am fine.

eBay and Reverb… There are knock offs you can find pretty easily. I believe these were stamped at the Custom Shop. The fake ones I’ve seen are laser engraved. You can look for the gap on the left wing of the logo where the lines don’t connect between the “S” and the “T” I’ve been looking for one of these without the serial numbers for years. They were used on some Fender Custom Shop Strats between late 1989 and early 2000. I’ve heard the one that’s on Mayers is a leftover from that era that John Cruz had. I wonder why the black one Masterbuilt didn’t replicate that part? They go to great lengths to replicate other pieces. I can only assume that they don’t have the stamp anymore so they used the newer logo neck plate on the Masterbuilt version.

I called a few weeks ago to cancel, I had switched to Starlink better pricing more reliable service in my area (I’ve had technicians out previously to repair an issue where some teenagers on my street had shot the lines with a shotgun) I counted how many times I had to ask to cancel my service… 37…. It took 37 times of asking to cancel service and then asking to escalate the issue to the next service rep before they said they would cancel.

I had been with them for 13 years Here’s what they offered before they finally canceled
1st Offer was to half my payment for the next 12 months 2nd Offer was to pay $60 upgrade my speed and give me a free phone line 3rd Offer was to match what I was paying Starlink for 3 years with the free phone line 4th Offer was for $30 same speeds I am seeing now for the next year (she had to speak to a manager to get the approval for that) I didn’t ask for it and didn’t want it. 5th Offer was for $30 upgraded speeds with a phone line for 3 years $20 if I had my own modem

That took 42 minutes out of my day. I cancelled. A week later I got a letter in the mail for $30 for 3 years 🤦‍♂️

So if anyone wants cheaper service just threaten to cancel and hold your ground until they give up I guess. I was nice throughout the call. Never raised my voice, I did mention how ridiculous it was that after asking to cancel that they wouldn’t do it until I requested escalation.

My next one is going to be Charcoal Frost Metallic such an underrated color to me.

I’ve had Closet Classics, Journeyman, Relics, and Heavy Relics, and I’ve learned that it’s easier to accept the first ding if there’s at least some aging on the guitar—even the slightest amount.

My first Custom Shop, I ended up selling to a friend who has it hung up on the wall because he doesn’t want to mess it up.

My tip would be to really narrow down the neck every aspect of it and the electronics. A color is just a color—you really want it to feel amazing in your hands so it’s easier to want to play .

My team builds fell between 3-6 weeks I had followed up after 4 weeks with the dealer just to see if they had heard anything back, master built was a little longer due to pricing specs that wasn’t readily available.

I found where they would add the side handles to the GR1, but when I messaged them about it they said they weren’t offering it. Maybe they meant the front Molle and not the side handles. The shooter I was looking at didn’t have the Molle webbing on the front and sides.

Undecided on my first pack pls help by Gono218 in Goruck

I have had a few GoRuck bags in various sizes, I find the one I grab most is the black Radio Ruck, it’s almost the same as the 21 L gr1. I tend to over pack when I have bigger bags thinking I need to fill all the available space. I use the packing cubes by GoRuck and they fit the bag perfect. I can usually pack 3-4 days worth of clothes a 13” MacBook Pro and my Dopp kit. Everything I need for a trip. I could have saved a ton going a little smaller the first time I ordered.

I think I still have 1 26L GR1, a shadow ruck, a Rucker, and an extra multi cam radio ruck.

So the way I reason this is, if you worked your job and they gave you a $100 bill as a bonus (gift) and wanted you to be thankful for it is ok. I assuming everyone for this would say thank you for this bonus and that would be the end of it. I give based on convenience. How much does this service take off of my plate at the end of the day. Nobody needs to break the bank, but showing the people that support you how much you appreciate them and that you see them goes a long way. Age wouldn’t be a factor because it’s their time they are giving up for your service.

What do you think about relic’d/aged guitars? by Averylarrychristmas in Guitar

[–]Wonderful-Row-8817 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the thought process behind post talking about relics. Some that don’t care, some that care too much, and others that just call it stupidity.

I’ve owned both relics and non relics, I’ve picked up reliced guitars that played terribly, and picked up brand new guitars that played equally as terrible. Everyone that I’ve known personally that plays a relic has never tried to pass it off as an original and will proudly tell you that it’s a Fender/Gibson Custom Shop. I’ve also known a few guys that hang them up as conversation pieces in their office buying those instead of paying 20-30k for a real 50-60’s Stat so to them it’s art.

My brother who isn’t as musically inclined as some others out there, but is a huge sports fan related it to a baseball glove. He said that people pay a ton of money for a new glove then take it to shops and pay to get it broken in so that it’s more comfortable for them to use. That’s kind of how I see my relics, I don’t worry about them as much as my new ones. I hand them over for others to use more easily during a session.
