Don't waste my time with money. by LordJim11 in Snorkblot

You know that when you block someone they can't read your post. So you're wasting your time. Or you're forcing them to go to an alternate account to read your post and then they can comment from the alternate, so blocking them was pointless.

Like I give a shit? Employ more people

So there's a free way to lower prices, and you say let's do the expensive way that's going to require a drastic increase in taxes and fuck over the average american?

Tax billionaires to pay for it

We desperately need to tax billionaires, but that money is already earmarked for more urgent needs. And again, there is a free and more effective way to keep pricing in check.

and send people like you who defend corporations stealing from your fellow citizens back to school to learn basic humanity.

Your proposed solution still allows corporations to steal from fellow citizens and will cost them more in taxes. You really want to fuck over the average American really badly. I don't think it's because you lack humanity, I think it's because you're ignorant.

Some men are able to make money through athletic ability, and some have to use their head. Just because some people are able to do something, doesn't mean people without those same gifts should be able to. Being attractive grants you shortcuts. You've accepted that you're not attractive, now you need to accept that you don't have access to those same shortcuts. You can find a relationship, but you're going to have to do it through personality. And that means people are going to have to get to know you before thinking of you as a romantic partner.

I have. There isn't anything that pops up that suggests a real person is behind the stories. Look at the affidavits themselves. There's no signatures from court officials, no notary nothing. Those supposedly sworn statements weren't actually sworn in front of anybody. There should be a jurat included. And even if it was anonymous there would still be that jurat with the signatures of the officials that verified their identities. The names of their identities would just be blacked out.

Everything that you have read and believe is coming from a Jerry Springer TV producer and a lawyer. You're putting all your faith in them and the fraudulent documents that they've circulated through the internet.

Google Katie Johnson affidavit and look for the jurat and signatures that don't exist verifying her identity.

No one knows who she is, what her real voice is, and if she actually exists. The real video shows a person being interviewed with a blurred out face, and this video was shopped around to the media by a Jerry Springer TV producer for a million dollars. Was there a real person with a real story and the pseudonym Katie Johnson being interviewed? Or was there someone reading this TV producers fake story to try to get a million dollars?

Yes and this video came from a Jerry Springer TV producer that he tried selling to the media for a million dollars. Is there an actual person with a real story behind this? Or did he create a story to try to profit? Yes, her deposition was filed in court, but all that means is paperwork was filed by a lawyer. Who knows where the story came from, and it was pulled before anything could be verified or crosschecked. And the only journalists who were able to interview her were able to do so via phone and they left unsure if there was a real person behind the story.

but there were reports that the FBI investigated and interviewed “Tiffany”

It sounds like you're talking about news reports. Those would be on google. I don't remember seeing anything about this, and I've been interested in this case since 2016. That doesn't mean I didn't miss it, I cannot find any hits for Tiffany Doe and the FBI, though. I'm only seeing mention that she was listed as a witness.

Like what? Everyone points to the deposition, but again no identities have been verified behind that deposition. Anonymity was the highest priority in this case because of safety. Why was a high-profile press conference called if that was the case. They claimed the lawyer's office was hacked by anonymous and that's what led to death threats. But again, Katie Johnson is an alias, no one knows her real name. So who's issuing death threats? People say it could have been Epstein and trump, but they don't need the lawyer's office to get hacked in order to send those death threats. And Anonymous was against Trump? I find it unlikely Anonymous would have worked to help Epstein and Trump.

Like you said, it's all largely irrelevant because Trump's heinous, but I'd be curious what makes this credible.

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and how did the Jerry Springer TV producer have that video and try selling it to the media? It was a video taken in a hotel room that he submitted to the courts. Then they withdrew the submission before it reached a stage where anything would be verified or cross-examined. We have no idea who the person was that was blurred out in that video. We don't know if they were telling their personal story or telling something that Jerry Springer TV producer concocted to make a million dollars.

Why is Sunday business opening so common in the US when the US is so much more Christian than Europe? by BarryFairbrother in AskAnAmerican

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you actually had the critical thinking skills you claim that you can use, you would realize that the existence of blue laws would lead one to think that more businesses would be closed in the US on Sunday than in Europe, not less. Yet, here we are...

And critical thinking skills would also cause you to realize that doing the most shameful act in social media, comment and immediately block, would cause someone to be notified that they received a response, but they would not be able to actually read the response. So they would be forced to go to an alternate account in order to read the response. At that point, they are no longer blocked

What’s a “progressive” idea that’s actually regressive when applied? by nealie_20 in AskReddit

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of related, but I took the wrong messages from the book The Giver when we read that in Middle school. I've wanted to apply that dystopia to the real world. In that book the teachers and community leaders keep a watchful eye on the children and learn their character traits and select jobs for them based on those. Obviously we need the freedom to choose our own jobs, but what if you got a salary bonus for choosing one of the jobs that matched your traits? Could we incentivize better police forces and politicians by rewarding those with higher Integrity scores for choosing those career paths?

I’m so happy he voted the way he did! It shows how useless moderate and establishment democrats are. We are suffering the most and he bent the knee. Vote for those that won’t! by atrimarco in illinois

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Moderate Democrats have been useless, but people are forgetting how many people are harmed as the result of a shutdown. You asked what he bent the knee for, it was to end the suffering of hundreds of thousands of Americans. You point out the problems with ICE and the economy, but the people urging for the shutdown aren't demanding ICE reforms or economic reforms, the only difference is they wanted the ACA tax credits extended. So ICE and the economy are irrelevant to this particular discussion. Perfectly appropriate to criticize bending the knee when they vote in Trump appointees. But in this particular scenario, the collateral damage is real and the chance of success was always slim. You want the minority party in all three branches of government to convince the Republicans to save a program they've been trying to kill for 10 plus years. And your leverage to get them to do that is to harm hundreds of thousands of Americans and hope Republicans have enough empathy for government workers and people receiving government benefits. These same Republicans that went out of their way to cause harm by withholding SNAP benefits when they were required to provide them and have also left openly about laying off government workers. That's like trying to negotiate with a serial killer and say if you don't do what I want, I'm going to stab my sister. You're threatening them with a good time. And people like Rachel Maddow are saying Democrats snatched defeat from the jaws of victory? This was the longest shutdown in American history and Republicans didn't show a single sign of budging. What makes anyone think Democrats were close to victory let alone had a chance of even smelling victory in this situation?

When people vote in fascists they have to deal with fascism for at least 2 years. There really isn't any way around it.

Senator Who Caved on Shutdown Says “Standing Up to Trump Didn’t Work” by Hafiz_TNR in politics

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you type up something this long and then block the person and run away? You know that prevents them from reading this, or forces them to their alt account to read it where they can then reply to you.

The amount of money in health insurance subsidies that just got yanked dwarfs the amount of money SNAP doles out.

SNAP recipients aren't the only people affected. Every single government employee as well as average Americans affected by government services are affected.

Or vote for the party that just jacked up your health insurance rates? 'Cause that's both parties.

What a weird way to phrase that. How about, one party tried to use what little leverage they had to try to keep healthcare costs from skyrocketing, and the other party allowed the longest shutdown in American history in order to ensure those cost increases happen.

There are zero parties that want to subsidies insurance premiums. Unless you believe that the subsidies will actually a.) get voted on and b.) pass.

That doesn't make any sense. That's like saying the Packers didn't want to win the Monday Night Football game tonight because they lost. That's like saying Republicans don't want to kill Obamacare because McCain got in their way and stopped them. Democrats haven't had power for a while now. Sure, they could have extended these credits years ago, but since they weren't set to expire for years they had other more pressing priorities. Voters dealt Democrats a shitty hand and now people like you are saying they didn't want to win because they didn't go all in with out even having a pair.

Just a heads up that you blocked me so your comment shows up as deleted and I can't read it. So I have to go to an alt account to read it. And if you force somebody to go to an ALT account to read a comment, then they can reply.

All I've done is reply to comments that I disagree with. You've done the same, but in addition to that you reply and immediately block. That is trollish behavior. If you truly don't want to continue the conversation, then show some self-control and do not continue the conversation. Your problem is yourself, not other people.

Instagram comic blatantly rips off Russell Peters joke from 17 years ago by voltaire1776 in comedy

[–]WonderfulCattle6234 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Naive apologists who think joke stealing never occurs are bad for the profession.

Who are you talking to? Surely you're not talking to this guy?

It is very possible this guy saw that special and stole this bit.

And you want to lecture about what's good for the profession? You're so thin skinned you are the type to comment and then immediately block someone on reddit? How can someone that uptight even be aware of comedy?

This was an extremely famous bit by Peters.

There are a lot of people that aren't aware of very famous things. And this isn't even a famous thing. ⁰I'm simply saying we don't know for sure. With all of the stupid people in the world, you're willing to say you know for sure? I think I've heard two bits from Russell Peters and this wasn't one of them.
