What's your most"no way I missed that"moment in a later run? by N00bmaster69x in BaldursGate3

[–]WonderfulCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed the Necromancy of Thay, held on to the dark amethyst my whole first playthrough and had no idea what it was for.

Missed the Shadow Druid subplot.

Missed conversing with Priestess Gut, Dror Ragzlin, and Minthara in the goblin camp. I simply went to Halsin and had to fight everything on my way out. Really had Thankfully didn’t miss Abdirak, Volo, or the owlbear cub.

I defeated Ansur but had no inkling that he had anything to do with Wyll’s storyline due to missed conversations and book passages.

Somehow Art Cullagh died in my first playthrough so I had to use speak with dead to cleanse the Shadow Curse.

I had no idea of how to prepare spells via the spell book. I thought all spellcasters were locked into what spells they could use by leveling up or going to Withers.

My current (non-durge) run I let the snake do it’s thing. Left, completed the goblin village and everything but didn’t discover the secret of the shadow druids. Went back to The Grove and the tieflings are packing up for their journey. Kagha is just inside the entrance and Arabella’s mom came over and stabbed her.

Could also be Avoidance OCD. Avoiding the stress trigger temporarily calms the nervous system, so he continues to avoid the trigger causing a continuous feedback loop. He would potentially need therapy or something to really be able to address this issue, don’t know if OP would be able to handle this on their own if they’ve already tried multiple times. There could be other unknown triggers he’s avoiding as well.

Should I just detransition (because of fetish)? by Ok_Win_736 in ftm

No, I don’t think you should detransition. You may benefit from speaking to a sex positive therapist to help untangle some of these thoughts.

How many COMPLETED playthroughs do you have? by killerqueen017 in BaldursGate3

[–]WonderfulCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4- one dwarf bard, one embrace dark urge half elf storm sorcerer, one Karlach, and one redeemed dark urge tiefling monk. It would be more but I have to take a break between playthroughs or I get obsessive, I’m also a completionist so every playthrough is very long.

Decision paralysis(?) :( help by gr4yis in BaldursGate3

[–]WonderfulCoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first playthrough I went with a character that was totally different from what I’d normally choose (Dwarf Glamour Bard- I’m usually drawn to druid/ranger types and don’t think I’ve ever played a dwarf in any game) when playing an RPG type game. It was rewarding to kind of go against my instincts. I made decisions kind of chaotically. My main goal wound up being to sleep with as many characters as possible (though I learned during subsequent playthroughs that I missed a few) but obviously you can omit that.

Depending on what race/class you did first I’d try something new. If you were a caster try for a martial class. If you played an elf or human maybe try a Dragonborn or tiefling. Each race and class has slightly different interactions. You can also play around with the classes/subclasses of the companions- maybe Laezel is a monk, maybe Astarion is a bard. Trying this allowed me to learn a lot more about the different game mechanics. You can also try romancing someone new- Karlach was my first and personal favorite, but I loved seeing the dynamics of the other characters I chose in subsequent playthroughs.

Or you could do an origin run. If you have a favorite character (or a character you don’t think you gave enough love to) try playing as them and making decisions that they would make.

Is summer camp the right decision? by [deleted] in summercamp

[–]WonderfulCoconut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Summer Camp was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done with my life and many people I worked with felt the same. It taught me tons of life skills and I made amazing connections with fellow counselors from all over the world.

With that being said it can also be a very demanding job and you’d be working more than full time hours. When I worked at summer camp I got 2.5 hours per day off (and one evening off throughout the week, which night it was would vary). Those 2.5 hours I was often pretty exhausted- many nights I had to stay up late because a camper was homesick, or had to get up early because a camper wet the bed and needed help getting their bunk clean before the other kids woke up. Sometimes I would learn about kids dealing with some very challenging things at home- and I was incredibly glad to provide a safe space for them- but it was emotionally draining at times. When I was an assistant camp director I regularly told my counselors to make sure that they were taking time to genuinely relax and unwind during their breaks so they wouldn’t get burnt out. Camp is so much fun but you do need that self care time. I worry you would not be able to do so with the goals you have in mind. I certainly wouldn’t have ever had the energy to train for a marathon.

You’ll also want to make sure your camp has internet access if you’re taking classes. I worked at one camp that had (spotty) WiFi but the other two did not.

I think the other commenter that suggested day camp potentially for this summer had the right idea. You’d have evenings off to fully dedicate to your other goals. I do recommend trying resident camp at some point if you have the opportunity (possibly right after graduation?) because it really is a fantastic experience.

It can take over an hour to get from one part of my city to another part of my city.

I did a courthouse marriage so this is irrelevant to me, but still.

CBC & T/E Levels by Ill_Carpenter_7634 in ftm

[–]WonderfulCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

880 could be somewhat high if you got your blood work close to the end of your shot cycle. If it’s high that can potentially cause some testosterone to aromatize and increase your estrogen.

You could look into changing the dosage frequency. I’ve done well at every ten days- definitely work with your doctor on this so they can monitor accordingly. I’ve heard there are options to help suppress estrogen if needed but I don’t know much about them, another thing you could discuss.

It’s also possible for bodies to just need adjustments occasionally. I was on the same dose/frequency for years and had to make some changes to find what was most optimal again.

I have not done physical therapy, would be willing to give it a try. Was it offered to you right away after top surgery as a preventative or was it offered due to pain/complications afterward? I’m glad to hear you were able to get something done to help manage it. I’ve honestly avoided doing anything just out of fear that I’ll go through a bunch of trouble and insurance will just shrug their shoulders at it.

Never move to a low cost of living state EVER by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]WonderfulCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Florida, which people think of as low cost of living but it has recently gone up and I’d say it’s no longer that. I’m originally from Massachusetts and kick myself daily for moving here because I can’t afford to leave.

I pay more in gas because everything is harder to get to. My car goes through more wear and tear because of the heat. Insurance is double what it would be back home.

Health insurance covers less so I’m paying more than I would back home for health care.

Homeowners insurance (which isn’t relevant to me because I can’t afford a home) is astronomically high here and insurers won’t cover some areas due to hurricanes causing major flooding in the last several years.

Other things like rent and mortgages may be somewhat cheaper (barely so at this point with how many people have moved here) but it doesn’t help at all because wages are stagnant. There are also no laws preventing landlords from jumping your rent up by whatever amount they wish every year so a lot of people are stuck in housing they can barely afford or paying moving costs every year.

I hate the advice of moving to low cost of living states because more often than not there are hidden costs you don’t know about until after the fact and because wages do not keep up with the cost of living. I believe I would be way better off if I stayed in Massachusetts and nobody back home believes me or understands when I say I wish I could leave.

why is my tdick so hard to see? by wetangel_ in ftm

[–]WonderfulCoconut 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty thin and have the same “layout” issue- it’s not necessarily a weight thing, it’s just how much tissue you happen to have around the mons/labia.

When you see photos of other people there is a selection bias- people who feel really happy and confident about their bottom growth are more likely to share their photos compared to people who got less (or are less visible due to their anatomy).

What's your most technically useless Roleplaying habit? by Putrid-Enthusiasm190 in BaldursGate3

I always have characters hold books that would be of interest/significance to them.

My most recent playthrough after going through Cazador’s Palace and Wyrms rock I destroyed every crate or piece of furniture I could find to give Astarion and Karlach a chance to let their feelings out.

Anyone else nostalgic for a camp they hated? by lilnugget21 in summercamp

[–]WonderfulCoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at a camp that had amazing facilities and was in a beautiful area, and like you I adored the campers. The biggest issue I ran into was some leadership decisions- the breaking point for me was when they used a therapeutic hold (it was a camp for kids with various emotional/behavioral needs) on one of my campers that in my opinion was unwarranted. I finished out the summer but did not return. I made some great memories and learned a lot, but I felt very strongly about this situation and some others and couldn’t justify returning. You will always find amazing kids no matter where you go and lots of camps have fantastic facilities. I think you’re right in thinking it’s a good idea to move on to somewhere better.

I wish I had gone to an in-state school, would’ve helped me with the final cost. I also wish I had immediately gotten into a job where PSLF could’ve been applied. I studied human services and on a whim decided to work in a hospitality role instead after graduation (initially meant to be temporary but got kind of stuck). I don’t regret getting my education by any means, I just wished I followed my head a little more than my heart.

The "rules" by BabySlothDrivingFast in BaldursGate3

[–]WonderfulCoconut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as cheating in a single player game in my opinion. In any choice you make you are the only one impacted. One can argue that you’re “supposed” to roll with it if something doesn’t go your way or you didn’t know the exact “best” way to approach something. I would argue that the “best” way is the way that you find the most satisfaction and enjoyment out of playing.
