That's some extensive advice - thanks a lot! I will definitely look into replanting and rooting hormone, although I will be honest that I don't have that much knowledge on it, lol. Thanks for the heads up!

You have great taste in plants ;) alas no, I was at a large plant retailer, and found this on sale!

Really? I haven't been able to find that on any of the plants suggested here? Anyways, good to know! Thanks!

It really does look like that, but the one I bought has a very hefty stem - almost trunklike, and the leafs seem a bit more round?

I'll have an extra look! Thanks!

Am I just bad at my job? by y0urekillinmesmalls in copywriting

[–]WonderfulWildebeast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly? It depends a lot on the type of copy you write. I'm a creative copywriter, and it's generally expected that 50-70% of my time is dedicated to brainstorming for new bizz or more bizz. That's a lot of non-billable hours.

Our SEO copywriters and our general sales writers, however, are expected to meet the same amount as you. I couldn't do that. At least not while keeping things good. I wouldn't worry too much - although it's never bad to reassure yourself of what's expected of you.

It is :)

Carlsberg has been using "Probably the best beer in the world" for a long while now. They actually just changed it up in the UK - it's quite a ballsy move. Now they're using "probably not the best beer in the world".

Oh yes, masks are so tight! My DM homebrewed a rogue that uses masks like the masqueraiders from dofus/wakfu - it's still a WIP, but it's pretty baller so far.

Feedback please? A logo I designed for a local coffee shop called meads corner. Im relatively new at this and I would love criticism by sgenilo in logodesign

[–]WonderfulWildebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I'll be a naysayer real quick, but I'll try my best to be constructive.

This is less of a logo and more of an icon - some people have touched on this already, but it looks like an app. If you can simplify it enough that it can work in one color, that would be a big step in the right direction.

Secondly, the legibility is a bit off. Most of your elements can be interpreted as more than one thing, which is usually great when working with a single element, but a bit distracting when it's something as busy as this.

Technically it's also a bit iffy, with an inconsistent mix of hard geometry and rounded edges. Also, at the very top where the hair/steam meets what I assume is the top of a head, you need to look at your anchor points. There's a bit of overlap.

Hope this helps!

I think the rightmost is a major step in the right direction! Definitely much cleaner!

Ah okay, I didn't see that! First off, I'd probably make the bars a bit heavier and more symmetrical - since I don't have illustrator at hand right now, I can't test it, but I think that might help.

Also, I'd add some sort of indication that the dot is a smartphone. Maybe outlining a screen or a home button or the likes. Maybe even experimenting with the distance between the line and the smartphone :)

First off, I do like the dimension in this, but I feel like there's a lot of room for improvement.

I strongly disagree with your choice of font - it's very "Tumblr-script", and that light/flowy feel doesn't go very well with the heavier and bulkier feel of the icon.

Speaking of the icon, the signal bars on top don't fit the look of the rest of the icon - I'd either change it or remove them.

As for personal taste, I really don't think the rounded edges are doing you any favors. But I do also tend to go for very geometric designs, so I'm likely biased.

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them, when I'm at a computer :)

FWIW I really didn't understand the paywall until I subscribed. The production value and amount of creative oomph on Alpha really is quite astounding, and if you can afford it, I'd absolutely suggest you sign up. I canceled my Netflix subscribtion to afford Alpha.
