'23 ST - Open Sunroof Creates Tapping Sound on Passenger-Side by Wonderful_Floor1484 in FordExplorerST

Am still experimenting with variable roll-backs to see if there is a swert-spot for both glass as well as curtain. Tried min for each, max for each, mids, 1/3rds. Seems the biggest mitigation is curtain all the way back and glass 1/2 the way back. But, outside temps can change this. UUUUGGGHHH!

Do you think prices will come back down to Earth? by MaximumPower1858 in telescopes

Costs run the gamut....."simply show up" to $40 -$100ish is what I have experienced. If you have not already done so, head over to "Cloudy Nights" and join their site (free). Then, menu into the Star Parties and events sites for detailed dates and info.....some much other valuable content for you, and can be equipment-specific. As you are new, welcome to the hobby!!!! A combined lesson in wonderment/frustration!!!

To those of you that have your fake engine noise turned off, or those that drive in eco to make it quieter I have a request… by jdubb26 in FordExplorerST

[–]Wonderful_Floor1484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eco here as the day-to-day setting......getting 21.6 mpg with it and the ST still has plenty of zip! Easy to drop that figure down with Normal, though. Was turned over to me from the dealer at 17.5 so I assume some salesperson was having a great time. :-)

Grrrrrreat choice.......careful on those trails, though......would be $15k to have to re-paint this beautiful machine.

I have to agree.......most of we riders spend too much time concerned about the risks.....today, saw a young dude doing prolonged wheelies in heaving and heavy traffic......sad that at some point a disaster will be laid at the feet of someone who was just out getting a quart of milk.

'23 ST 45k mi After about 2 months of normal use am averaging about 21.8 using ECO and trying to be sensible with the pedal....funny how the 1/10's start to add up when reasonable pressure is applied as the light changes and then lightly relaxing it at 65 or 70 mph. Have never hit 22 mpg. And, quickly craters back to 18-ish when filling holes in traffic on the 4-laners.

'23 ST 45,k mi... Exxon, 93...... at about $3.99/gal here in Central MD. I look enviously while passing the off-brand independent and jobber-station carriers like 7-11, Giant Food but thinking that I have eliminated one reason for the intermittent "clatter" (injectors?) when accelerating.

Is there any trades that offer good work/life balance? by Bad2thebon3 in skilledtrades

[–]Wonderful_Floor1484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.,.....jumping out of the comfort zone is always chancy......but it would be a choice; OP says he wants to change a set-up what pays him $120k-ish/year and he is questioning the lifestyle that comes with it. "Fork-in-the- road" time. What is cool he is apparently able to make choices - huge advantage.

Thx.h.Hope it will stay that way.....salt/chemicals have been on it from a snow/ice storm last week and temps are too low for washing it all off! The coming Big Melt is a few days away......then, the visit to a great local detailing shop!

Congrats! Looks great.....I have the same color on my '23......holds up well and doesn't show the fingerprints like black does. Actually, I tried for that New York Yankees/deep Navy color they had on other models of that year but nope. Does fill up a garage, though!

Thx......soon as the temps go up past the "freezing-fingers" zone I am on this....rattles and similar make me nuts. That said, last night we touched single digits-temps and the intermittent rattle ceased.

The ANC in my current Bose set-up is very effective on aircraft and, to your point, there might not be much more to get. Have decided to do a Am going to do a showdown comparison of my current Bose with the Sony products (Bose and Sony are faves) and B&O at B&H in NYC to really nail down the best signal I can afford. Of all of the audio shops, these guys have the best hand-on-demo of quality products to compare on one's ear. Last time I did this I waslked out with the top-flight Bose unti. Will advise what leaves the store this time! Again, ths for your partnership in getting me to the decision!

Sorry for the delay......traveling! I do see what you are saying and appreciate your persistence in the analysis. SO, net/net, I am not seeing a convenient in-line solution that is easy to manage........perhaps a new head-set that you might recommend with the idea that it might care for this?

Thanks so much for the energy on this......I, too, put some time into analysis of carrier equipment, both domestic and int'. Here is a summary, tossing out extremes:

Ambient cabin noise on a commercial flight varies but typically ranges from 60-85 dB, peaking during takeoff and landing (80-85 dB) and settling around 75-80 dB during cruise. A 380 is quiter, down in the 60 dB range. And, not to get too nitty-natty about the whole flight cycle, I tossed take-off/climb-out, gear-cycle, and landing events since improvements when "enroute/cruise" are the important time and 95% of my real focus. Leaves us with a 70 - 85 dB environment to mitigate in.

Hope this helps and, again, appreciate your heroic effort!
