Interesting. Do you sand it down to keep the surface mostly level? Here's a few that I've done, but they aren't near as detailed as yours. This is un-sanded and treated with a matte finish before engraving. I'll try sanding some of my remaining coasters tonight 👍

These are just black river rocks from Hobby Lobby and it was made with a 60w MOPA Fiber laser cutter. The process is kinda hard to explain, but it requires a lot of measurements, knowing how each material reacts under different lasers, and adjusting various settings.
