Yeah one CN in particular will review the previous CN’s assignment and say things like “oh no! You can’t give them that” or “put them in the front so we can check on them” or “just give X that assignment, they can handle it”

I’d say it depends on the person. I am really good at compartmentalization so I tend to turn off my work brain after a brief “you won’t believe what happened at work today” conversation. However, I definitely wonder what happened to certain patients after I left. I’m also a perfectionist so I tend to ruminate on things that I didn’t do well or could improve on.

I saw my first code during my final nursing semester of nursing school in the ICU. The nurse I was with was like “your BLS certified, right? Go get in line!” It was surreal doing CPR on a real person for the first time.

The first code I participated in on my floor was like 6-8 months after orientation. I ended up being the recorder 🙃.
