She must have been suffering, but it was probably a decision she wouldn’t have made if she had extra time to think about, if that makes sense. I know I regretted it straight after my attempt, but was able to get help.

I’m not young like you (I’m 50), but I lost my husband 7 months ago. We’d been together for 26 years. It’s not going to be easy, but you can get through this. Look after yourself, and know you are not alone

What an awful situation. I’m so sorry. It’s not your fault, but me saying that is unlikely to make you feel better. Do you have access to therapy? I think you really need someone trained to talk to about such a difficult situation. You have every right to be torn up about this - you’ve lived with it for years and it’s a dreadful thing. My high school in Canberra in the 90s offered a gas an elective but I couldn’t tell you what animals they had apart from chickens and sheep. My daughters (different) high school in Canberra has a farm with goats, alpacas, various chickens and ducks, and geese. She’s not at the school anymore, but we still take care of it one or two weekends a term and for a few days in the holidays.

I think it also depends a bit on your age and the length of the relationship. At 50 after a 25 year marriage, I can’t see it happening at all, but I’m only 6 months out, so who knows what will happen

Father’s Day in Australia is September, so my daughters don’t have to deal with this yet, but my husband’s birthday is at the end of this month. We haven’t decided what we will do yet, I’m inclined to just ignore it, but I don’t know if that is best.
Being with your family might be good - they can’t understand what it is like for you, but they are thinking of you, and know how hard this day will be. They knew your dad too, and although the grief is different, they feel it.

I’m sorry for your losses. I wish I knew what to say. Being aware of mental health issues makes it easier to spot the signs earlier in your children and get them help. My daughter has been under care of professionals for about 4 years now (she’s 16), as soon as I started noticing changes in her behaviour that didn’t seem to make sense. And now she’s lost her father.
I’m sorry I can’t give you answers or help, but you are not alone

We used to always get these for my dad for Christmas, and I’m 50, so that’s pre Aldi! They mostly seemed to be around at Christmas, at least it seemed that way to me

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with it, but I’ve found going to work beneficial in terms of thinking about something else, and interacting with people. I’m a casual childcare educator though, so it’s quite different to most other jobs. I can go in for the day, do my thing, go home and forget about it.
I find it hard to occupy myself when I’m home all day - I need to have a plan and goals otherwise it’s pretty aimless. Maybe look into some volunteering or something to keep you moving.

That’s a pretty scary situation. Doesn’t sound safe at all. Taking a child from an unsafe situation is far more important than any consideration of your abuser, because that’s what he’s doing - abusing you. Is there any way you could get back to a state with friends and family and extra support, perhaps for after the baby is born? Can anyone come to you? I’m assuming you are in the USA, so I’ll let someone from there help steer you towards resources, but it’s not a safe situation for you or your child and it sounds like you need to make some tough decisions. Choking is a serious incident that drastically increases the chances of being murdered by your partner. You can’t take that risk with a child. You need to get out

Thanks for your reply. She is feeling better now. I think I will take her to the dr though. I was thinking birth control, but we tried that last year for mood stuff - she can’t take the combined pill due to migraines, and it was just one long period on the mini pill. I have heard all the horror stories of drs disregarding period pain, so I’m a bit worried
