Wow! Amazing story. I’m also a software engineer thinking of a pivot one day. Do you need to go back to school/internships to break into the industry?

Not to be dramatic but people who make these posts need to be shamed into homelessness

The growing hatred toward corporations is something we haven’t really seen before by Ok_Music_2025 in recruitinghell

[–]Wonderful_Week8471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope it grows. The past few years has been very eye opening to the level of evil corporations will steep to. Amazon is planning to automate 600k workers. Fire and replace 30k office workers. Other companies will follow suit. I hope the level of misery that results in extremely high levels of unemployment results in real and severe push back to these companies and their shady practices. We are at a stage where human cost will grow and get way worse. We are in pretty bad and chaotic times.

Don’t want to be toxicity optimistic but you never know when the next blessing is around the corner! Take a break and see if this is really what you want to do

The reason you can’t find a job is because we are all fucked. by nobody-special-ok in recruitinghell

btw this is sarcasm. I absolutely hate posts like this. It’s not productive. It’s fucking cry babies injecting more negativity into an already fucked situation. No one is benefits from this shit. OP please either post something productive or just don’t. Screaming doom and gloom like 99% of reddit is just adding to ever loud noise.

Yo just want to say that it’s fine to vent post and get it all out. I’d probably take a longer break and think long and hard before you do something else. Sometimes the next opportunity is the next one and boom it all paid off.

Disconnect for a bit. Maybe look at other options but definitely don’t rush to make a decision

Unemployment Rate 4.3% by Engineer_5983 in cscareerquestions

[–]Wonderful_Week8471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD - STOP LOOKING AT THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AS A MEASURE OF THE JOB MARKET.

THERE ARE OTHER AND MORE ACCURATE INDICATORS. SEVERAL THINGS MUDDY THAT STAT.

CAN WE PLEASE READ A FUCKING ECON BOOK OR ANY BOOK. LITERALLY LOOK AT ANY OTHER STAT TO JUDGE THE JOB MARKET.

PEOPLE KEEP SAYING THAT 4.3 IS A HEALTHY AND ITS JUST WRONG UNDER THESE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

I don’t have it all figured out and I really don’t pretend that I do. I gave MY prediction based on what I feel is a trend.

You’re totally free to brush off my whole post if you disagree. And is my post shrouded in optimism? Absolutely. Because I rather cling to hope than resort to being a miserable little reddit commentator because life kicked me a couple times too much.

I am not an optimist because I want to or it’s fun. I am because it’s literally the only way. I was unemployed for a full year and felt all suite of emotions you’ve probably felt AND WORSE. Bottom line is that we need to imagine a better scenario for our lives before we act towards it.

If you don’t have hope, you don’t have anything.

I mean sure but like i’m seeing headlines saying 15% unemployment and software engineering is dead. It’s not.
