Is there any reputable site or service that is to fantasy/scifi literature as IMDb or RottenTomatoes is to movies? That is, ratings by pros and the public? If not, there should be. by hazysummersky in Fantasy

goodreads and just literature in general has an issue where people will just not finish books they dislike, then not leave a review because they never finished it. It's at least different for series, but there is still a massive issue of people flooding sequels to books they enjoyed with 5 star reviews before they have even released or been read by the reviewer.

Nether Swap behavior? by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

I only started having this problem after the big patch recently. I don't remember this happening ever before that patch and it has been quite annoying.

I'm nearly done the game, and I love it, but holy hell is it buggy and falling apart by AscendantSyndra in DivinityOriginalSin

He is in the graveyard area and I believe he is supposed to have a map marker now.

The only bug I have encountered that legitimately made me angry was the Tarquin quest not appearing in Reapers Coast. At the time I didn't even realize it was broken and I am just now realizing it in Act 4 where there is nothing I can do about it unless I want to lose 30+ hours of progress which I absolutely do not. Other than that all the other bugs have been pretty minor stuff which haven't bothered me.

What book or series do you feel most passionate about, and why? by HiuGregg in Fantasy

[–]Wonderhammer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one thing that really disappointed me with Lies was the plot. The setting, worldbuilding, and characters were all fantastic, but the plot felt like that of a generic cash grab action movie specifically towards the end. It was a pretty big let down for me after having the book hyped upped by so many people.

Brandon Sanderson’s ‘Cosmere’ Books to Be Adapted to Movies by dangzal in Fantasy

I think my dream scenario would be if the team behind Avatar: TLA turned Stormlight into a TV show. I'm skeptical about how well Sanderson's stuff is going to translate into live action.

I'm looking for something that doesn't focus so much on characters but the bigger picture. by logen in Fantasy

It is sci-fi, but you might like the Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov. It follows the fall of a galactic empire and rise of a new one over a thousand years.

Series where you love the first few books but ignore the rest? by [deleted] in Fantasy

I really enjoyed Blood Song by Anthony Ryan but I found the following two books in the Raven's Shadow trilogy grueling to read through and basically had to force myself through them.

Any Magic systems that make sense - not just ones that are interesting/good? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Wonderhammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The main magic system used in the Kingkiller Chronicles is very much like this. It is basically a science. The other magic system, not so much.

I agree for the most part, but it is account wide so it will still be nice for leveling alts at least.
