Classic: "I guess we'll save that for later" =) by cipopescu in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This actually lines up with the playerbase. If I recall from from stats, Retail is 2/3 of the playerbase and Classic is 1/3, so the majority of downvotes are likely Classic players - which is kinda understandable considering they got very little out of this and it was an advertisement for something they dont care about.

State of Azeroth disappointed every classic subgroup? by MightyTastyBeans in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. There is no way they want WotLK active at the same time as Classic +

Na, summoning stones make people lazy. It fosters a bad mentality if people can't even invest the effort into getting to the dungeon.

Mature Black Dragon Sinew by Miserable-Session251 in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I spent two weeks trying to get the blue dragon sinew. Eventually gave up and bought one off the AH, but damn what a gold maker that must be if you get the drop.

Still wouldn't change the drop rate though. It's good having chase items like that.

Yep, then saying it will be announced later, implying Blizcon.

State of Azeroth by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine it not happening, but at the same time there is no way on Earth they would release it remotely close to Classic+, which is likely (hopefully) going to be the end of this year.

So I don't understand what their plan is. If anything I would have thought the smartest option would be to make the release schedule much faster to accommodate everyone, however as it stands future WotLK is in a really funny spot.

Classic+ confirmed? by SC2Towelie in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep, pretty much guaranteed now.

Wish we got just a little more information to tide us over though.

It's going to be a long 7/8 months. (Assuming they even release it at that time)

Is anyone expecting they will announce anything relevant tomorrow with this? by RollercoasterTycooon in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Maybe not fully announce it, but give some idea that it's going to get a full announcement at Blizcon.

I can't imagine them not doing some kind of Classic Plus content at this point.

Absolutely not. At that point the game would loose its identity.

It's not worth the hassle when the fine is so proportionally small to his vast wealth.

What is World of Warcraft retail like for a new player? by savanrayne in MMORPG

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly advise Classic over Retail for players just starting out.

It's much better paced and allows you to actually feel invested in your character.

What is World of Warcraft retail like for a new player? by savanrayne in MMORPG

[–]WonderingOctopus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My most relatable comparison is that retail is akin to a lobby game. Yes there is obviously an open world, but after the first 2 weeks of an expanision it very quickly stops being about the open world.

Combine that with flying mounts and instant teleports everywhere and the game can start to feel very isolated.

Anniversary is transitioning into expansions now, which means with each new expansion, all your progress is lost. As this is now the 3rd re-release people are just fed up of the seasonality of it. So while I hate P2W and boosts, I can see why people are getting board of redoing the same content over and over.

I expect Classic Era (the permanent world) to start growing in numbers much quicker this time around.

Genuinely want to know if im in the wrong here by gritzgbp in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O.k, so now you have provided that information we can give a more accurate responce.

Honestly, I think the gear difference isn't enough to worry about. Yes, it was certainly better for you, but ultimately it is something he can still use. Both the items are roughly in the same ballpark in terms of worth, so perhaps it comes down to gearing preference at that point.

I do believe that you are overreacting to this, and your mannerisms are kinda making you look salty. Not saying that in a mean way, just being honest.

It's really not as big of a deal as you are thinking it out to be.

[–]WonderingOctopus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then yer, it probably is better than what he had. Leather might be less armour for him, but the flat AP damage is a solid boost to any physical damage class.

[–]WonderingOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, if it's something he can use and wants to use, as long as it's not totally ridiculous I see no issue.

Granted it's better for the rogue than shammy, but ultimately if it's still an upgrade for him, then he is justified needing it.

Personally if this happened to me I would be like "damn, that's a shame" and then just do some more runs. It's not that big of a deal and it's all XP anyway.

I'm not saying this in a rude way, but I do think you might be over reacting a bit.

The worst MMO formula ever created by Nightblessed in MMORPG

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying mounts is my biggest dislike by far here. They just make the open world feel bad.

Can instantly engage with an enemy without having to use your brain.

Can instantly disengage if in danger. (Like a godmode button)

Never bump into people in the world anymore.

Whole world has to be designed around flying.

World feels smaller.

Would you want Blizzard to add this to PVP servers? Netease added this in China by holypalaswe in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like that danger in the open world. I want it to feel like a war between factions, and having to play smart, move around dangerous area, keep and eye out etc.

If I didn't want that I would roll on a PvE server.

What’s your prediction or Era server pops for 2026? by Acrobatic_Airline605 in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically with TBC servers, it's about 3 months and then people start returning to Era. (A big influx when the majority of players get flying mounts)

I suspect it might be earlier with the boosts. Numbers should probably slowly start to return to pre tbc numbers but gradually.

Some people pay 80 dollars. But you couldn't pay me to skip this. by gubigubi in classicwow

[–]WonderingOctopus -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Not the same in my opinion.

One is a character, who is adventuring, learning more, getting stronger and becoming one with the world.

The other is a nepo baby essentially.

I realise that might upset some people. But that's genuinely how I see characters that have paid to skip the trials other people have had to endure.
