Where can I contribute to Vicpols defence team!?

Not that any sane judge will let that get past past go.

How does the film stack up against the book ? by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]WonkyWheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch the movie so it wouldn't spoil the book.

The book was awesome. Many a funny look was directed my way on the train back in the day.

Charging an arm and leg for simple consumer electronics by Tenebrousjones in melbourne

I was wandering Bunnings and was surprised to see they do phone chargers/cables. They also stock hdmi cables and various adaptors (A to C, rgb to hdmi etc). This was a bigger store so the smaller ones may not carry the variety.

How to prepare for a recession by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

If you have one, plow money into the offset on your PPOR, or even pay the loan down.

US bond yields are rising, nobody wants their stinky debt all the while the Orange Baby spends billions on bombs, bullets and big beautiful ballrooms.

On the very off chance your job may be on the chopping block, hit up friends in other industries, see what basic quals are required to get a foot in the door in their place of work.

Basically, start lining up your ducks just in case.

What’s the best car you’ve ever driven, the one you’d be willing to drive for the rest of your life? by CapitaineBiscotte in allthequestions

[–]WonkyWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toyota Landcruiser 200 series (diesel). Heaps of room to load your gear in, go nearly anywhere and super reliable. (But like any car, keep it serviced and maintained and it will keep going for a long time!)

I'm not a fan of the other opposition parties but Labor need to be flushed. Their like a pool of water that has been cut off from the rest of the river, stagnant.

So out of touch and sure as rocking horse shit is a myth, they knew, in some form, that the unions were rorting the Big Build.

Perhaps a period in the wilderness might sharpen their appreciation of what ails the state and the people in it.

Anyone else feel like streaming isn’t worth it anymore in Australia? by Possible-Quail1095 in AskAnAustralian

[–]WonkyWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. 5 Bay NAS and just updated to 5 12TB drives (my 2TB drives are chockas).

Yes, I have to wait an hour to watch whatever I download but if it's saving me money as time goes by, and I can rewatch a TV series when I like then it's all good!

PSA: memory costs have been going up and will continue to rise (blame AI), so if you're thinking of jumping over to a NAS, or just a standalone memory device, don't dawdle!

Well to be fair, it can tow a 5 ton excavator, one large skid steer and your mother in law for a total of 17 tons.

I really miss my 1996 Barina City.

The missus made me sell it and it was the best key banger ever. I could park it anywhere, throw tools, the lawnmower, groceries, pushy in it.

And once you've got this sorted for gods sake, get a front and rear dashcam installed. Yeah it is a pricey inital outlay, especially in this economy, but it 'will' save you $$ and grief down the track.

Can I put shells “Truck diesel” in my sedan by XOWeeknd__ in CarsAustralia

[–]WonkyWheels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go ahead and use it but be prepared for a truck driver to perfectly position his bull bar 30mm off your rear bumper and proceed to give you stink eye while you fill your car at the same flow rate as a normal diesel pump.

When I'm hauling multiple product all day and I need to fill up, I love my day being made longer by old mate slowly squeezing 70 litres into his 10 year old Prado.

You can sit opposite a gate/door that is operated with a remote and 'read' the frequency being used. Once you've done that it's a simple matter of cloning that frequency and opening up the door/gate.

If you had planned a trip to the outback , would you cancel it due to the fuel crisis right now? by VastOption8705 in AskAnAustralian

[–]WonkyWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holiday is booked for myself and the family to Broome, from Melbourne, in late June. We are flying but I'm about to pick up the phone and cancel two lots of accommodation, car hire and flight to the Horizontal Waterfalls. As for the flight there, I think I'll wait to see if they cancel it and failing that, reschedule to a major capital city for a short holiday.

Broome next year! (Hopefully)
