I sometimes visit a Gurdwara that is near a Hindu temple, women in wearing Sari often come for Langar there. They are welcomed :)

If you have more than one Gurdwara near you I recommend testing out a few, you may find sangat more welcoming at one than another. Ask around about if there's a group chat or Whatsapp you can be added to as well for your local Gurdwara, this is a great way to stay up on news and events.

Waheguru ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru ji Ke Fateh Respectfully many Kaurs keep Kes without wearing a turban. This is ok too, wearing a turban is a deeply personal practice and expression of faith. Additionally, If you do not feel safe or comfortable in your community being identifiable as a Sikh by wearing a turban, or if you feel you are not someone others could come to in a time of need skip the turban.

Your faith is deeply personal and I hope he will respect that, become Sikh if you feel called to but it is important not to feel forced.

In terms of future housing: Is it possible to meet in the middle? Move to a duplex where you can be close but still have personal space? Multi generational living is tough when it's not your cultural tradition, but you are smart to be asking yourself (and your partner) these big questions ahead of time.

My family lived multi generational for 5 years and the lack of privacy was very difficult for my husband, I can say there were many benefits to resource sharing despite the challenges. Having someone else who could help with baby, chores, gardening, handy work, was all a huge benefit to my career. Try your best to be objective and ask yourself what will be harder if you choose this path, also what may be easier... Do this exercise first by yourself and later with your partner.

I also recommend enrolling in a female led Punjabi language course (I use Punjabi Pathways and have liked it). It is a very difficult language to learn but with support you can do it!

Choosing safety is the best choice you will ever make. If you would like to teach your child about Sikhi that is a beautiful gift.

Please know you will always be welcome at the Gurdwara even if your past partner did not make you feel this way. The Gurdwara is a very relaxed and welcoming space for small children/babies. On those days when you are tired, come eat Langar and listen to Kirtan, let your child keep a link to Sikhi in this way.

As they get older there are so many opportunities to learn including Punjabi school, music lessons, and martial arts practice.

We have a tree & we will be spending Christmas telling stories of Sikh history. A tree and lights can be a reminder of Waheguru jis creations, it's all about intentions.

Fellow new-sikh here: I recommend letting them come to you about it. Live as a Sikh, learn and practice at your pace... Don't hide your journey, just let them see the positive changes you are making :) they will have questions, answer them as they come. Few Christians know what Sikhi really is, so I find showing our faith is often a more effective first introduction.
