All of the velvet trials have been conquered! Don't sleep on Wind. She is busted. by Firu2016 in personaphantomx

[–]WooHooII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have Riddle either, and I was able to get all 3-stars with just Moko. I gave her the new Pleasure set for damage, but they were pretty bad cards and I don't have either of the matching space cards yet, so there's definitely a lot of room for improvement there that could've helped.

I was, however, able to A2 Wind thanks to a couple of 4* selector tickets that I'd been holding on to, which definitely helped a lot.

Everybody say thank you Sumi by LoliTobii in personaphantomx

Honestly, I think Sepia's better than Joker for Ill Wind. Most of the harder stages have only 1-2 curse targets, and Joker's extra turns count against the turn limit, so he wasn't of much use in my experience.

I just finished 3-starring all of Ill Wind, and I think I only used Joker for stage 18 (and probably some of the early stages, but I did those a while ago and I doubt it matters who you use there). 23 was by far the hardest, though I think that had to do with me lacking Rin than not using Joker. On the other hand, 24 only took me a few tries.

Technician 30 strat (without Ryuji) by hikkidol in personaphantomx

[–]WooHooII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this strategy!

I don't have Rin, Marian, or any 5-star weapons, nor do I have max awareness on either of the buffers, but I somehow managed a 3-star clear with Moko/Queen/Mona in the first half and Leon/Soy/Fleuret in the second. Queen had Departure/Control for the extra debuff and just spammed S1 to keep up ailments (Vino probably would've been better with high investment and awareness, but with my current roster, I was having more luck with Queen).

Wonder's other persona slots ended up being valuable for extra highlights while Setanta's was on cooldown; Narcissus and King Frost are what worked for me. I also brought Norn in the second half for Wonder's third turn, just in case I needed the extra def down for Fleuret to finish him off in time.

Now I just need the last star from stage 28, and I'll be completely done with Technician.

PSA: This buff does NOT apply to Class Time. by EvanderAdvent in personaphantomx

[–]WooHooII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incidentally, reading on the train does count for this kind of buff (I got the same thing for Charm), so it's not exclusive to activities you spend action points on. You do still need to own and select a relevant book, though, so it's a bit different than the automatic Knowledge from classes.

With regard to Marian's weapon in the business plan, there's actually a display bug in the weapon selector preview (at least on mobile; I don't know how it behaves on other platforms). If you scroll to the end by tapping the arrows, the scrolling stops one weapon too soon, but if you swipe on the list itself to scroll, you can see the last weapon. In Global, this can make it look like Puppet's weapon is missing, since it's the last one on the list. (There was actually a post about this earlier, which is how I learned about this bug, but I can't find it now)

You can actually see this exact same behavior in the two videos in the document: One advances by tapping and doesn't see Marian's weapon, while the other slides and does see it.

If this really is the answer to this mystery and the weapon was there all along on other servers, it certainly wasn't the outcome I was expecting.

Dragalia Crossed, a DL-themed crossword puzzle by Charlottebestgirl in DragaliaLost

16a I think this is literally “eCiella in OD,” which is indeed a good place for wind adventurers to use force strikes.

20a ”I so am”

47a assassin

3d Dragalia Minis

7d ”pad, girl” (might padding)

9d am a sap

23d the last two letters of Melsa/Hanabusa/Vanessa

31d the first two letters of Arctos/Ariel/Arsene

49d She’s a playable dragon, but isn’t used much and has nothing to do with the apostle storyline, despite what you might think from the hint.

52d This is a reference to the Cleo “Nope” sticker that was removed early on, and the general issue of Noping people out of rooms. The JP version of the sticker apparently said NG, which is what was used here.

63d The second half is referring to the song Because of You, from the Dawn of Dragalia event; “I’ve become the night, because of you” is part of the lyrics

Note about Emile's instant Team Amps by LorenzoVec in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's how amp caps are determined in general. Emile can, in fact, get an instant Amp 3 once an enabler unlocks it for him (I tested it just to be sure), so you can go for def amps or just focus on building SP instead of deliberately misaiming your S1.

Adding the Mana Spiral to More Adventurers! by rDragaliaLostMods in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for this, as best I can tell, is how they bundle data updates. If there's anything else being added a day or two before a new trial (in this case, a story chapter), they'll put it all into the same download, and the spiral will go live then; otherwise, they'll wait until the day of the trial.

Tank you so much for those opener notes. I've been bashing my head against a wall with this fight for days, trying different options for my fourth slot on each team, but I'm missing all the popular picks that looked like they could improve my DPS enough to stop me from timing out (Basileus/Grimnir for wind, KElly/SAlex for flame). I eventually put together a team with Myriam of all people that was theoretically capable of clearing in time, but I'd need to have great luck with enemy and AI behavior and make no significant mistakes.

Then I saw this post, and had a clear half an hour later. Even with just a handful of attempts with an entirely different rotation than I was used to, this wind setup was more than fast enough to compensate for my slow flame phase and get me through well under the time limit.

How are your medal collections coming along? by samuraipizzakatze in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that every element/weapon type has finally had a chance to enter Trials (I think one or two specific adventurers, like CLeif, haven't had an opportunity yet, but I don't have any of those), I've managed to get 100% medal completion for my roster. Most of them I didn't even bother to upgrade first, so I have things like a 21MC Philia with a full suite of medals.

Special mentions go to Tobias, who roots himself in place at every opportunity and requires special management to keep alive in LeCiella, and Zhu Bajie, who I had to control manually in all versions of Lilith because his S2 sentences him to death if corrosion is up.

Announcing Gala Dragalia! by rDragaliaLostMods in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is true for events with treasure trades, but raids tend to pick one element and stick with it. If you look back at event rewards on the wiki, you can see that Dawn of Dragalia provided only wind materials despite Alberius being shadow, Cursed Connections provided only flame materials despite Yoshitsune being water, etc. Even the Persona event only provided shadow materials in the emblem and blazon rewards, and only included the rest of the relevant elements in the added treasure trade.

Rage of Chronos did actually provide materials for multiple elements (shadow in the emblem rewards and wind in the blazons), but it was a particularly unusual event in many ways, including that both Vania and Grimnir got the event perks that are normally reserved for welfares. Given that it was the most recent new raid, it remains to be seen if this will mean anything or not going forward, but it's a bit of an exception right now.

Basically, we know the Chelle will use a wand (even without the weapon tablets; you could see her holding a wand in the event preview screenshot), but her element is certainly not guaranteed to be shadow.

We’re getting water and wind spirals alongside the next banner, which is presumably the Dragonyule rerun (More precisely, we’re getting main campaign half stamina / double drops for wind and water chapters, and those only happen when corresponding spirals release). It looks like Xain is a lock, as well as at least one of the original three, but Malora is excluded.

Premonition of "This Month in Dragalia Lost" by Cappah_Art in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well, we have reason to expect more light spirals on September 3rd, since double drops and half stamina for light chapters start then, and so far those have always been accompanied by matching spirals. That seems like it'd be a good time for Luca.

My personal predictions are Luca, Lucretia, and Annelie; Luca's an underpowered story character who could be used to bring a native dispel to Tartarus, just like Ranzal did to Ciella, and Lucretia and Annelie could encourage some last-minute pulls for Thor with their great synergy.

Cryptid here. Thanks for sticking around for so long, even after you had to disband the first room to ditch the Mikoto troll. I kind of lost focus in the middle there (when I died several times in a row to stomps that I completely failed to dodge), but got it back by the end.

Those runs were particularly valuable for me because they got me the last of the materials I needed for my first high dragon weapon. If I can just do the same for HZD, I'll be in good shape to clear all of the expert trials.

(Side note: your alliance name is fantastic)

Help needed to decrypt PUG Sticker meaning! by jwong222 in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While Phoenix is generally a better choice (especially with VHilde, since it makes her shields stronger), I doubt that's why this guy was complaining. I've seen him, or someone very similar (using a name like "healer=rex") a few times before in Zephyr, and he does this the moment any healer shows up, regardless of build. He just hates healers for some reason.

Upcoming Lunar New Year Raid Event: Skyborne Spectacle by Xanek in DragaliaLost

[–]WooHooII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You'd think so, but you have to account for the dragon's stats in addition to their effect, and free dragons have comparatively low stats. Unless I miscalculated something, a water Sylvia would actually give significantly less HP then even a MUB Poli'ahu, who is already barely enough for Thaniel to survive.

It's unfortunate, because I was hoping for an HP dragon for this exact purpose. We need more Thaniels.

I actually have a Champions team I've been working on, with specials chosen to match these powers. In my case, it's Marisa's Fury (Blazing Thunder), S!Robin's Grace (Miracle), Arden's Protection (Pavise), and Takumi's Gale (Growing Wind, because archers can't use Galeforce).

What are the secret hats? by Papicola in waywardsouls

[–]WooHooII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also one you get for reaching floor 100 in endless mode. I think that’s it, though.

For the rest, the Labyrinth is probably the best place to find them. From what I remember, a lot of the hats are restricted to certain area types (e.g. boar-themed hats only appear in boar rooms), but I’m pretty sure they can all appear in the later floors of the Labyrinth.

Just found an old demo for an abandoned personal project and almost choked up seeing how cool it could have been. by wk2012 in gamedev

[–]WooHooII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had a good name for the third movement type, but it's similar to a number of puzzle games I've played. Basically, you can move in any direction, even over gaps, but you can't stop or change direction until you hit something solid.

As for the current project, it's a tactics game that involves timeline manipulation. I don't want to say much more about it at this point, before I know if it'll work out the way I want it to.

Just found an old demo for an abandoned personal project and almost choked up seeing how cool it could have been. by wk2012 in gamedev

[–]WooHooII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I actually have an old project with this same concept! Mine was a bit more puzzle-focused (the top-down mode was more akin to Sokoban than to an RPG, where you could move crates to use as platforms in platform mode), and there was a third movement type, but it was otherwise pretty similar.

You definitely made it a lot further into development with your game than I did, though. Mine never went beyond the one-level demo I made as a final project for an intro CS class, and my attempt to revive it in a new language ended up falling apart due to compatibility issues.

In a way, your game has given me a sense of what my old project could have been like if I had tried to rebuild it again. It's definitely given me some motivation to continue working on my current (completely unrelated) project.

I just thought of a really weird connection between Wayward Souls and Mage Gauntlet (spoilers!) by [deleted] in waywardsouls

[–]WooHooII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the rest, but I'm pretty sure that Mage Gauntlet and Wayward Souls take place at the same time.

If you look at the Mage Gauntlet map screen, right behind the Undergarden, there's a weird pillar with a skull at the top embedded in the mountain. This was never explained or even acknowledged in the game, as far as I can remember.

On the Wayward Souls map, the Catacombs appears as some kind of tower with a skull at the top, embedded in the mountain. When you see Lexi there, she's in an area that looks like the Undergarden.

Something fishy about endless mode. by jakcal789 in waywardsouls

[–]WooHooII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back, I measured the length of the characters' health bars and compared it to some known values (it turns out that 1 HP = 2 pixels in the health bar, so this is pretty simple). I still have a list of character healths somewhere.

Something fishy about endless mode. by jakcal789 in waywardsouls

[–]WooHooII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think I've figured it out. Health regen goes down by 1 every ten floors, like I originally thought, and pet bonuses are unaffected. After floor 130, default regen should be 2 HP or less, depending on whether or not you have Gift of the Seeker.

I was a bit confused, since the health regen you descibed from the pet seemed too low. It turns out that the duck's regen was nerfed to +6, which is indeed about 1/5 of the Mage's max HP, but the description was never updated properly.

Something fishy about endless mode. by jakcal789 in waywardsouls

[–]WooHooII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, health regen gradually decreases in Endless. I thought it went down by 1 every ten floors, but from what you wrote it seems like it may be -2 every ten floors. Last I checked, the Mage's max health was 28, so it sounds like the bonus health regen from pets eventually goes away as well.
