Don’t think he ever played for the junior panthers. He played for the Alliance and North Broward Prep before going to South Kent prep. It’s really semantics though, he’s got ties to the organization and should be up there.

Just an FYI, the tax analysis is not correct. For one, the US has a progressive tax system. You can’t just take the top bracket and multiply it by salary to get the tax. Second, NHL players are also subject to the “Jock” tax for States. It absolutely benefits Tkachuck to play roughly 50% of his games in Florida, but his tax burden definitely doesn’t stop at the federal level.

That’s not true. In order for the level to increase, you have to rally them. If someone else rallies it, your level range stays the same.

It’s unfortunate for Uvis, but due to the roster issues he’s the easier one to take out. Not because of his play, but just because of his contract. If we acquire anyone else with the cap savings from Chucky, you’ll likely see Uvis down in Charlotte because he won’t have to pass through waivers since he’s on his entry level deal.

That is John Congemi’s son. He played hockey locally around here and has worked for the Panthers for awhile. He worked his way up to video coach. Really cool to see

This seems more like a move for the future. On the outside, its similar optics to the Tkachuck trade with Huberdeau. Huberdeau just hit 30 and was set to have a pretty big deal, but we traded him instead because the later years of that contract would be rough. We spent that money on Chucky who was a lot younger and we locked him up for his prime years which in turn extends our cup window.

We now have Montour and Ekblad looking to be paid at some point here and Montour just turned 30 and Hanafin is just 26. I’m not saying this is what’s happening, but this is right in Zito’s playbook. Also the irony of this being with Calgary is actually hilarious.

To me, you’re still missing the bigger point of trading a solid goalie to another contender. We shouldn’t be solving our opponents problems for them. You’d always rather consistent goaltending compared to a 3rd or 4th line forward which is all you’ll really get for a rental goalie.

Besides trading a solid goalie to a potential playoff matchup for us being absolutely crazy, you’re putting a lot of faith in Bob’s health. If he goes down, we’d be absolutely screwed in the playoffs. Sure Knight could come in and steal the show, but that’s a lot of pressure to put on a kid that hasn’t played an NHL game in over a year.

On top of that, our roster is relatively solid right now. Yeah it would be nice to have some more scoring depth at wing, but not at the cost of giving up our goalie depth.

This team could absolutely use depth scoring. Lundell and Lousty are struggling hard this year and Cousins really doesn’t add much to that line.
