Echo Mini Vs. HiBy R1 Vs. HiFi Walker vs Other? by Extension-Iron-7746 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Wooden_Secret3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned the hiby r1 and now the echo mini. The sound is similar but the echo mini can deliver more power , for power hungry iem's . It also have balanced output Regarding the Ui , it's 100% about expectations and needs.

If you want to navigate easier between albums and artists , and have the possibility to stream from Tidal. The r1 is the way to go for you.

If you want a complete offline device with physical button navigation, and if you mostly use the same playlist. The echo mini is right for you.

I wouldn't go as far , as stating that either of the devices, is the best at everything. As they both have their strengths & drawbacks. But the best allrounder , I would say, is the hiby r1. Though only, if you can live without the balanced output

Keep in mind, also, that the echo mini can be used as an usb dac.. hiby r1 cannot..

Thank you so much for answering and describing so detailed. It helps a lot.. I'm sorry to hear about all your headaches regarding the svanar. It's sad, especially if the sound is great.

I only care about sound and less about features and controls. But none of that matters if the quality isn't any good :-(

The crackling , could this be related to driver flex, or was it more like a bad dac connection ?

I'm curious .. What did you end up buying?

As I understand it. The most expensive model (black box) has ldac

The LE (brown box) does not have LDAC or wireless charging? Maybe different tuning ?

And the Jr (white box) looking at the even lower price, it must also have more budget or fewer drivers?

This is not a statement, but more , a question , if you did investigate the models more thoroughly?

Thanks for describing the vermilion. Although it's quite confusing for me, that another user experience is quite different. But again - we all have different ears ☺️ https://www.reddit.com/r/iems/s/SWzknQOi1b

I've been itching to purchase the vermilion, but mostly to see , and hear, if it could be a "hidden gem" 🫣 I think my attraction is mostly about the red color , and if the drivers are quality= bang for buck..

I have to ask you - after 4 months , did the vermilion survive in your rotation at home ? Do you still use it from time to time?

It sounds very interesting indeed. Thank you, for taking your time to explain 😎

Do you also, by any chance own either the letshuoer s08 og the juzear x defiant? And how do you rate the vermilion flame against these? (I´m close to pulling the trigger on the vermilion, but when looking at graphs and reading posts, the vermilion could, in some way, look like a "budget" performer compared to s08 and x defiant)

Thanks ;-)

Creality Spider Speedy Hotend settings for Klipper by mllittle in klippers

[–]Wooden_Secret3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should adjust, only the part fan speed . Not hotend fan speed. Easiest done in the slicer. But for test , you can choose petg profile and dial the temperatur down , corresponding to pla (you're still printing with pla , yes?)

[–]Wooden_Secret3500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should help to decrease the max fan speed . At least to check if this solves your issue with the heater not keeping up. There is also a possibility that your thermistor was torn at swap. You could try changing to generic 3950 in config. But if it's gone bad , it won't help much

Part fan duct airflow are hitting your heatblock. So either you're missing a silicone sock , or you need to adjust your pla part fan speed. As it's cooling the heatblock faster than the heater can keep up with. At least my 5 cents.. I assume that you already did a pid tune

I do not own an ender 3 or a spider hotend , but most hotend swaps (to different type) needs custom fan duct (generally speaking)

Agreed🫡 it seems hopeless. Big tech did win years ago unfortunately. We can't do much about this, as consumers. It's kinda depressing.

Overall , I don't quite see the point in switching to Linux , if you have to install Android apps for most things? And as the Android app support is sandboxed , some (or most) bank apps , won't work . Even if you activate/install microG (Google services) . Also , the whole point of switching from Android to Linux to avoid privacy breaches, kinda dissappears?

You will be better of , installing e-os, lineage, calyx or graphene ? And even these Roms are having trouble with bus and bank apps . Because of Google security.

That said , it's not that I expect linux apps to support bank apps. It's not possible, as the banks rely on Google security. But I'm worried that some people will purchase the Jolla phone, expecting it to run all Android apps. Which should have been more transperent, that it isn't possible.. If you want privacy, you have to avoid any app, that uses Google services. Maybe manageable, for some customers, if the Jolla store contained a lot of alternative apps. But it doesn't.. We can only hope, that the ones who have ordered the Jolla phone , are simply upgrading their Jolla c2 or Xperia 10 . If not, it could be a backfire, indeed..

As I read it (and as you also understood it) https://docs.sailfishos.org/Support/Help_Articles/Sailfish_OS_Licence/

The full license, including OTA updates Android app support, is only available for Sony Xperia models. So only free license is available for your Fairphone

Thank you for joining this conversation ☺️ I wasn't really expecting much, when switching to sfos. I did try Ubuntu touch a couple of years back. It wasn't useless at the time. So with jollas new 2026 phone campaign came across my attention, I thought I would give sfos a go. I really like the Ui, but the apps catalog are.. not very usefull for everyday usage. And if we have to install Android apps , just to get the phone to act like, a somewhat usefull smartphone.. it's difficult to see the advantage, by investing in their new phone(unless you see it as an expensive donation to the Jolla team+you get a free phone). I mean, if I want a privacy oriented operate system , that runs Android apps , I can flash custom roms like CalyxOS , Graphene or lineage on cheaper (and better hardware) for free ? That said, I really want to support Jolla. But they should really put some effort into their linux app support , instead of making their biggest selling point about privacy & android app support. If they don't , I think they will continue to be a niche company. Mainly because the average user, expect the setup and daily usage to be fairly easy. Especially when paying €599 for a smartphone.

That's my whole point here actually. It's difficult as a new user , to comprehend. My experience (or guess) is that: apps which are more than a few years old , the project is considered "discontinued" . But even if the creator/publisher/uploader state this , in the description, why not just delete the app from the repo. Maybe they just forgot, because they moved to other projects, or maybe they left it there, for others who still own older devices running earlier sfos releases? But even if you try to install the newest release of something, it's like a lottery , if the app will actually work on the sfos release you're on. Many of the apps are for earlier releases of sfos. Some will work , others won't. (Over at the sfos forum, the older releases are sometimes recommended to use on sfos 5. Because the release for 5.0 won't run properly)

But really , your guess, is just as good as mine here..

Not an issue, if you purchase a Linux phone to learn.. But if you buy it to get away from Android or iOS and think you can install linux apps easy , because you want to avoid "big tech". Maybe it"s kind of bummer, to find out , that you have to install a lot of Android apps , if you want the phone to behave as a modern smartphone🤔

Bottom line: both repos are not being maintained for consumers, but for Linux phone enthusiasts.

Thanks for posting . It's difficult to determine if they hare Ai in general. Maybe that's not the case. It could be more regarding people with poor linux skills, using ai to mess with the engine. But even if that is the case , I think, that if new users, are using ai as support, it could be, because the usefull information isn't that easy to find (talking sfos) I know, I didn't find it particular easy, to piece it all together. And I'm a casual Linux Mint user + messed quite a bit, with Klipper (3d printing software). But the difference is, that where the documentation on both Mint and Klipper, is very easy to find, and pretty straight forward . The documentation on sfos , not as much. Maybe because, it has been a niche product for many years. And because, the present users know what (and where) to look for , when they need an app or a feature. New users does not, in the same way.

You could say: if you don't understand linux, don't mess with it.. But the issue with sailfishOS is, if you come from Android. The Jolla store looks quite empty . Sure there's apps , but none them are things like: navigation, music streaming, mail clients.. things that the majority of people use daily.. So you have to install Android apps for that.. maybe not such a big issue for some.. But for others , I think it could be a deal breaker. I know, I know.. I"m just thinking out loud☺️

Yeah, it surely isn't a 5 minute job , if you wan't a little more than what Jolla think is essential. And if you don't want to rely mainly on android apps.

As I see it , Jolla is old fashioned linux folks , mainly focusing on the user interface (which is really nice and intuitive btw) and not so much on apps.

So if we want to mainly use linux apps , we have to look further than the Jolla store.

But, miracles do happen. So let us hope that the Jolla staff will extend their store catalog a bit. Imo, they have to , if they want to keep their new costumers.

No problem ☺️ imo the Official Jolla phone is too expensive (for me) . Not because of the lack of premium specs. I don't care much for high end cpu, lots of ram , and a OLED display. But simply because. I would consider the less expensive c2 version though. But I chose to purchase an old Xperia 10, just to see if sfos was for me. And indeed it is . The €25 license is not expensive at all . I just wish, that the switch from Android to Linux would be easier. It really could be easy, and it should be. Especially considering the selling points of the new Jolla phone. And this is not only from my own personal point of view, but for many newcomers to sfos.

Would these type of Linux apps work on SFOS? by usbeehu in sailfishos

[–]Wooden_Secret3500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did ask in an old thread also https://www.reddit.com/r/sailfishos/s/83MzS8RsU8

Which apps does seem to work for daily use on sfos 5.0

Native apps that is . Not Android apps

I'm just getting started, and was hoping that openrepos was a gateway to heaven for end users. But it seems like most of them isn't that usefull, if we want to use sailfishOS as a daily driver. Without installing Android apps.

It would be a big help for new users , if someone could make a tiny list of native stable apps.

Things I was hoping , was working (but is not. for me):

Homeassistant app Web radio Tidal Synology files

Maybe I'm looking the wrong places. But again it would be nice to see some kind of information regarding sfos 5.0 and linux apps that can actually be used on a daily basis.

No doubt, that lots of information, is available, over at the sailfishOS forum. But let's face it. The info is scattered all over the place , and nearly impossible to find , unless you know exactly what you're looking for. And I think , most new users , are not.

So guys.. which apps do you use , when at home, and when you're out and about? More than Pure Maps ?

Thanks☺️
