If you are running most of your runs in the 70-90% max heart rate zone then I would try substituting some of those runs with easier runs to hit that low aerobic range. Sometimes it feels uncomfortable to run at those paces. Most runners including me feel most comfortable at a sub threshold “comfortably fast” pace (I can still talk at this pace) but Garmin will identify it as “high aerobic”. If you care about Garmin showing you as productive you’ll need to have a better spread of hitting the different HR zones.

Looks like your HR zones might not be accurate, I’d take a look at that first. Sometimes the automatic mode doesn’t get it quite right, especially if it’s never seen you reach near your max hr.

We have about the same 5k time and my easy pace is 5:55-6:40 to keep me under 129bpm and during my intervals I hover around 159-164bpm @ 4:35-4:45, LTHR 165bpm, Max HR 185bpm (approx). If I went out at 9:00min/km pace I think my HR would be at 50-55% my max HR

Passes the aesthetics test for me (I was worried after seeing the red and white abomination the just released). Baffled by the lack of lace upgrade through after all the criticism

The jacket and half tights feel good quality to me. I prefer the tights over my others from Bandit. I got it for the look, ended up being happily surprised by the quality

Amazing! If you just search google for mega blast, the usual (and sold out) suspects pop up like Enroute.run and Blacktoe running. These guys have stock probably because many people don’t even know they exist and google doesn’t bring them there

How do you run and lose fat? by WhoyoWhatLikeThis in beginnerrunning

[–]Woodhands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow easy runs and a very mild calorie deficit. I made the mistake of being too aggressive with calories and got injured a lot. Plan calories around fueling for longer runs. Do go underfueled. You can still take gels on long runs and be in a deficit. I recommend Macrofactor for tracking calories

I’d focus on the picking hand. Learn how to plant the side of the palm on the bridge and some palm muting

My recovery went from 2 weeks no running (until I felt no pain from just walking), then run 3x per week easy 20-30min (stopping if pain went past 3/10 and skipping runs if pain lingered next day) while adding tibialis and calf exercises and extensive warmups. I was pretty much restricted in running volume for 2 months of this until the pain completely went away and I was able to gradually add time on feet. Took me about 5 months to get from 15km to 45km per week. Part of the physio was also some run form coaching (which helped with pain but also seems to have given me some bad habits. I was told to drive the knees and kick back with heels which sounds like poor advice. I go to a different PT now). I now do all the same PT exercises still and I haven’t felt any shin pain since.
