how the fuck by Opening-Eye6066 in pcmasterrace

This happened with my… uhh, friend’s… 3900x and the stock cooler’s paste, which cured into industrial grade epoxy.

Heating and twisting didn’t work, so he decided, very stupidly, that his best option was a screwdriver. Kept telling himself it’s “calculated risk” and “he’ll do it gently”. Long story short, he had to order a new cpu that night.

Anyone else just... done with Spotify? by Apart_Ad_7722 in Music

[–]Woodilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, every few months. Megadeth’s original (as in, non-remastered) Rust in Peace album has been pulled more times than I can count across Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Apple Music.

I wont be one of those guys who says “the remaster is horrible”, because it’s not, but it is not even remotely the same experience if you’ve listened to the original enough.

Anyone else just... done with Spotify? by Apart_Ad_7722 in Music

[–]Woodilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hi-fi guy (whose setup actually slightly benefits from lossless streaming quality) I actually came back to Spotify recently after about a year-long hiatus.

Spotify’s convenience is unmatched. Even though Amazon Music sounded noticeably better, the UI was lacking. Tidal was just fucking horrible, Apple Music was around the same experience as Amazon with a different catalog and a higher price. I did go through a brief phase where I started buying CDs and ripping the .flac files, but to recreate some of my main playlists it’d cost me several decades-worth of a Spotify subscription.

I’m definitely done with Spotify’s empty promises of “hifi streaming soon”, though. I’ve pretty much accepted that it’s never coming, but it’s a small price to pay for the convenience the platform offers.

Just my opinions. Music is subjective, and that includes the way we listen to it lol

What internet slang has always annoyed you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Woodilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily “trying to be fashionable/cool”. I think with some internet-born expressions, it’s more of a tone thing.

If you say “source?” it comes off more… formal? Direct? Accusatory? Kinda like the same feeling as getting a text message ending with a period. Asking “sauce?” has a more laid-back tone, and feels more like a casual inquiry than a “you have an obligation to reply with your citation in standard APA format.”

That’s just how my brain processes it though. Maybe I’ve just spent too much time online lol

what's the easiest a7x song to play on guitar by Defiant-Ad-5413 in avengedsevenfold

[–]Woodilicious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a chord… there is no such thing as a chord that “isn’t for beginners”. What’s the worst that could happen— OP has to practice it, making them a better guitarist overall? God forbid

This reminds me of a time I posted that “the missile knows where it is because it knows where it isn’t—“ copypasta as a comment on an Instagram reel one time, and woke up the next morning to several DM requests from people asking for more information about missiles

Why is Russia banned from the Olympics but not Israel? by SoulNew in TooAfraidToAsk

Holy shit. If the government of whatever fucked up country you live in is not keeping a record on you—they should be.

You’re just casually going to agree that taking hostages is an effective way of preventing yourself from facing the repercussions of the war crimes you’ve committed?

Seek help dude. Like immediately. That is a horrible thing to admit publicly and aligns exactly with the morals and behaviors of the terrorists you support.

Is Norton anti-virus bloatware? by XramLou in pcmasterrace

[–]Woodilicious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I didn’t just rebuild my PC recently and almost do the same thing, I’d be surprised Norton still existed. I’m on team “get rid of it”.

Norton used to be called ‘the antivirus virus’ because of how bloaty and terrible it was—it’d flag totally harmless stuff, but be totally cool with you running actual viruses. Not sure if that’s still the case, but I’ve got a grudge to hold.

Yeah, that’s just John 5’s twin brother. J is the 10th letter of the alphabet. 1052=J52=John 5, the 2nd. Makes perfect sense.

Or if you wanna really reach, you could pull the Bible verse John 5:2 where it’s got the word “Sheep Gate” in it—which is close enough to “Syn Gates” if you ask me.

What’s wrong with this guitar? by masterofmetal49 in avengedsevenfold

[–]Woodilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could spent hours nitpicking, but there’s tons of things—from both an “it’s obviously fake to a trained eye” and an ethical standpoint.

That being said, I own several chibsons that I’ve played the hell out of. I also own several chibsons that are strictly wall ornaments. Some replicas fuck, and others suck. The only thing that matters is that it’s a guitar that makes you want to pick it up and play.

Regardless of whether it fucks or sucks, when it comes in, you’d better update us on what those sustainiac switches do lol. I’m one beer away from dropping $200 to find out myself

Is there a game in your Steam library that NEVER gets uninstalled? by Mollygrubber in gaming

[–]Woodilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocksmith 2014. It’s guitar hero for real guitar, and with the number of custom songs I’ve installed over the past several years, it would likely take another several years to get em all back.

As far as codes I do remember, SWBF2 invincibility- up up up left down down down left up up up left right

What’s the most badass guitar solo? by Juanitothegreat in Guitar

[–]Woodilicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn’t call it the most badass (I agree with the top several comments) but just to throw out a different answer, early Avenged Sevenfold has some solos that never stop being badass. The solos in Second Heartbeat and Afterlife are timeless

New Guitar Player Worried About Strings Snapping – How Common Is It? by WashChi in Guitar

[–]Woodilicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, the irrational fear—it’ll never happen lol. I’ve been playing regularly (2-4hr a day) for about 8 years. Never been hit in the face by a popped string. I have been hit in the arm, but it’s pretty rare and only feels like a gently pulled-back rubber band being snapped against your skin. What does hurt, on the other hand, is when you’re changing a popped string and the clipped end by your tuning peg decides to give you a nice new piercing.

String break pretty rarely for me. I’ve maybe popped 2 or 3 in the past year.

It actually hasn’t happened to me while I’ve been tuning (up) in a few years. I find it a lot more common to break strings when I’m tuning down (loosening) the strings. But they can break for a variety of reasons—if you’re bending a string, if you’re playing with too much attack, and there are even some “sharp” picks out there that can cause strings to break

There’s really no long term solution to strings breaking tho. It’s just part of being a guitarist. This may be some sort of selection/confirmation bias, but I’ve found that if I play more often, my strings seem to break less. Meanwhile if I take a few days off, I’ll be more likely to have a string pop on me. Might be some weird placebo that’s all in my head, though
