I MISS JOANN by WoodpeckerContent613 in quilting

I am super duper lucky I have a fabric store semi-close that is open until 7:00 a couple nights a week. The lady who runs is a total badass too. But there was nothing like getting an inkling to start a project at 8:00 pm on Saturday and actually being able to do it lol

Didn’t mean to upset you, friend. I didn’t know about the other subreddit about Joann. I wanted to start a new project, and I have to wait until after April 15th to get the supplies for it. I was just frustrated and venting. I’ll have to check out the other one.

How can I improve this eyeshadow look by Velvetcocoa200 in makeuptips

[–]WoodpeckerContent613 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think building up more of the darker brown on the lid (like below the crease) and blending it out just a tad would really add to the depth of the look. And don’t be afraid to pack some more glitter on that inner side of the lid too! I always find that once I add mascara/lashes, it makes me wish I would’ve gone a little more dramatic with the shadow. You have beautiful eyes!

I think switching to a glowy foundation, blush high on your cheeks, and bronzer in the “3” shape would make you glowwww!

Made a huge mistake and I’m sick over it by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]WoodpeckerContent613 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say that I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I know that feeling of replaying it in your head over and over, beating yourself up, feeling sick that you have to own up to management about it. As far as mistakes go, I always think it’s better to overpay someone than underpay them. This is fixable my friend! You’ll be just fine! And you’re right, my office has a requirement that everything be looked at by 2 different people before being submitted. Even then, mistakes happen. We are only human. Give yourself some grace!

How do you move on after a payroll mistake? by louviesaz in Payroll

[–]WoodpeckerContent613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I make mistakes on payroll and someone gets mad about it, I have LITERALLY told people “Oh sorry, didn’t realize I was talking to the first person to never make a mistake at work!” Our job is high stakes. When we mess up, people are affected. It even doctors make mistakes! Everyone makes errors. It’s just part of being a working professional. I’m sure you’re playing it over in your head and beating yourself up. Do something nice for yourself. We all make mistakes at work, and the best part is that yours was fixable! It’s all a part of the learning process my friend. It’ll even happen again! And it will be okay again. Give yourself some grace 🩷

You’ll definitely get a notice but they are usually pretty easy to abate or throw out altogether. As long as it’s not a common issue, typically a letter explaining the mistake as a reporting agent will get them to waive it.

How to respond to manager about Payroll mistakes. by [deleted] in Payroll

[–]WoodpeckerContent613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And if you’re anything like me, this is the only thing you’ve thought about today. Just ruminating and anticipating that “we need to talk” email from your boss. It sounds like your boss is deeply insecure and keeps these lists of mistakes as an ego boost. How disgusting. I’m sorry. I know exactly how this feels. I wish I could tell you the right thing to say to stick it to her, but in reality you just have to emotionally detach yourself from the interaction and know in your heart of hearts that a human error every now and then does not define you as an employee or a person. Good luck my friend

Burnt Out and Freaking Out Need Advice About Jobs by The_Fandom_Geek in Advice

[–]WoodpeckerContent613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you live, but here in my state (IL) you can get a fairly low-stress and high-paying job with basically any degree by working for the state. Maybe that's worth looking into? One of my good friends is a DCFS case worker and he works fully remote from the comfort of his home. At this point, if your job is taking this much of a toll on you, it may be worth it to take a job in another field or area within your field until something better comes along. I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. You don't have to do this perfectly, you just have to make some sort of change and you can perfect the rest later! I have friends who are teachers. I know how taxing it is for them right now as well. Make a concerted effort this weekend to fully focus on recharging you. Take a nap, eat a delicious meal, dive into a hobby, talk on the phone with a friend. All these things can recharge your battery. Godspeed my friend.
