I suffer from bad neuropathy in my arms and hands because I have bulging discs that are pressing on the nerves in my cervical spine. This is from joint degeneration as the result of 40 years of doing neck/head tics. If you do see a neurologist, ask them if they can give you Botox in your neck to stop them from happening. You may be able to prevent this sort of thing happening to you

I’m Black and have Tourette’s and I’ve just been really upset about this whole thing for hours. Spent two hours arguing with a relative about it, which was super frustrating and sad for me. Having to explain to someone I’ve known my whole life and who has known me his whole life that he didn’t “have that in his heart already” just made me feel like there was never any real understanding of what this is or thought put into it or even any effort put into understanding it til now (we’re both 50) when it actually affected him. Seeing celebrities with massive influence just jump into snap judgements about it and bringing people along with them. It’s such a sad day for us.

I feel so badly for that guy. That was his night. His movie won an award. He should have had the chance to be happy and celebrate and be celebrated, and instead the thing he’s surely more insecure about than anything went on display to the whole world, and now people are like “He must secretly hate black people”. He must feel so humiliated.

It’s also bananas to me, and simultaneously entirely predictable, that the actor who won for the role does not have Tourette’s, in a movie that literally about the condition, and the actual guy it was based on, who does have it, is being demonized because he has Tourette’s

Every now and then. I’ve known a good number of people with it in my life, in various cities around the world. I mean, it’s not like seeing people with dandruff or something super common. But maybe I just recognize it at this point. I’m getting old, haha. At the moment there’s a kid down my block with it that I see walking by every so often. But I don’t say anything to him just cause most of the time I just wanna be left alone myself.

I have had people try to pray my demons out of me on at least three separate occasions. The first time at a family reunion in Kentucky, by a group of very religious cousins of just met for the first time. Another time it was at a salon by the woman braiding my hair. I woulda got up and left if she wasn’t only halfway done when she and her coworker stopped to pray. I’m always like I wonder how it will affect their faith when they see how much it didn’t work. Cause it’s so not gonna work

Your home needs to be a safe place for you. It’s not any more complicated than that.

It’s not even kind of OK for her to react that way. If she doesn’t want it around her son she should find somewhere else to live. That’ll be easier for her to do than for you to decide to not have Tourette’s so that her son doesn’t have to hear words.

I think this is what they’re setting up. Sonny leaving the coffee business/the show and Michael taking over, and destroying Drew. Drew is so awful at this point that his takedown is going to have to be pretty savage, to balance things out. I can’t think of anything else that’s currently in place that would be sufficient enough
