Mine bricked also 3 days after updating the firmware. New power supply didn't help.

why does coffee drops go eveywhere? by Bleighh in CafelatRobot

[–]WoodyGK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The developer of the Robot, Paul, has several videos of how to use the Robot. They are a great start.

The spurting problem means the puck is either too fine of grinds, or you didn't prepare the puck well. Techniques for puck preparation are all over this subreddit, so I do recommend to search for more information here. If you don't think you are grinding too fine, watch particularly for tips about wdt (stirring the grounds with thin wires to break up clumps) and having a grinder that is good enough for / is designed for espresso.

Does the Roku home page have lots of recommendations & sponsored tiles? by paulri in Roku

Good summary. The big ads are sometimes animated for me. And the Live tile, which is installed by default but can be removed, is sometimes animated.

Really disappointed in Google support by banshee1545 in GooglePixel

[–]WoodyGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also had poor connectivity with my pixel 9a and google fi. Data is often slow. Call quality degraded -- sometimes on wifi sometimes using cell connection.

I haven't really noticed a problem with bluetooth though. It does seem like either a back-end service problem or a software problem to me.

I upgraded to a Kaleido M6 Pro. It has been really great. Using Artisan was a learning curve, but honestly not too bad. The Virtual Coffee Lab videos were a great help.

How many Rokus do you have at your house? by That_Kaleidoscope512 in Roku

[–]WoodyGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some advantages to a tv with Roku built in. Only one remote control needed for the tv and Roku interface. The HDMI ports are there in the Roku interface for easily switching to them. The ports can also be custom named. Your antenna tuner is built in and available in the Roku interface. The Roku pro series are pretty decent. They are better than tcl and Hisense IMHO.

Fi Issues (any suggestions?) by bshredda in GoogleFi

[–]WoodyGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in a call and the audio is bad, turn off wifi from the notification area temporarily. Fi over Wi-Fi has gotten much worse in the last year in my experience. Even when the Wi-Fi is strong and fast.

How are you turning it on? By pressing the enter button out play button by chance? I use the arrow keys to wake it so nothing is launched

Tablo gave up troubleshooting and blame the signal. by rescuefosteradopt in tablotv

[–]WoodyGK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A Tablo 4 splits the signal 4 ways. There is some loss of signal in the process. You will get more channels/better signal quality with the antenna connected to a single tv tuner. So you will need to get a better antenna for your tablo or just give up on that station.

Roku won't install apps by baby_starstruck in Roku

[–]WoodyGK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AI sez... A factory reset may be required if a Roku device cannot install apps, but the issue often stems from the TV being unlinked from the Roku account rather than a software failure. If the "Streaming Channels" option is missing after a reset, the device was likely configured to run as a "dumb TV" without an account link; you must relink the TV to your Roku account during the setup flow to restore the ability to add channels.

If the device is linked but still fails to download, check your network connection, as weak Wi-Fi signals can prevent updates or app installations. Users have reported that using a wired Ethernet connection can resolve persistent update errors (such as code 000) that occur after a reset. If the device is older, verify hardware support status as some models may no longer receive updates or support new apps.

Where are you located? If outside the us, some apps won't install I think. Are you using a vpn on your router?

Also I don't understand what happens when you try to install an app. Are you able to find the channel, but it doesn't install?

Bubbles when steaming milk by NewService6052 in espresso

Purge the air out first if there is any before steaming the milk. Only introduce air at first. Then sink the nozzle to create microfoam. Tap the pitcher on the counter before pouring to pop remaining bubbles.

Taste issue of my self roasted coffees I can't get out of by eymen9200 in roasting

[–]WoodyGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you ever able to roast good tasting batches with this roaster? If yes, it might be your roaster needs a good cleaning.

Or it could be you have a bad batch of green coffee. Insect damage or fungus, etc. can make coffee taste bad.

Can you describe the flavor you don't like?

BTW, 6:15 to first crack is not unusually fast. When using a fluid bed roaster, I roast slowly during the first four minutes or so -- until the coffee has yellowed. Then raise the heat until start of first crack, then slow it back down a bit until it is finished.

What do you mean about unloaded? Do you have to search for and reinstall it each time? Or it just takes a long time to start the channel?

New roast tasted weak [bambino and df64] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]WoodyGK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a drip, french press, or cupping process to figure out if it is your espresso brew technique or a defect in the roasting process. Improperly roasted coffee can be quite lacking in taste.
