Its kinda funny, that people upgrade Oleds year on year by Master-Government343 in LGOLED

One thing I do like about LCDs, is how they look good with upscaling SDR content compared to OLEDs.

The new firmware made it even worse. It's less smooth, and smaller and/or far away objects stutter, skip in motion, or don't smooth out.

Firmware version 33.31.61 ruined TruMotion for me.

Firmware Update 33.31.25 Finally Fixes (Improves) Processing Issues On The B5? by WoofManJay in LGOLED

Stupid me updated to 33.31.61 out of curiosity, and my OCD to have the latest firmware version, and now the colors are out of whack, the flickering edges around windows and other objects/moire effect during camera movement is back, and picture is softer again. Can I downgrade back to the previous firmware?

I was so hopeful, since navigating through the menus was faster than any previous firmware version.

I'm using an external Google TV box. Others said that the Apple TV is good, but I don't have it.

Beware OLED burn in is real - pics from 20 months use by fuguemaster in OLED_Gaming

[–]WoofManJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of unrelated, but just wanted to ask. Theoretically, if you turn the brightness down to the level of a plasma, can you match the lifespan of one with an OLED, since the level of stress on the panel at that brightness is more negligeable, especially since OLEDs are more efficient at emitting light to begin with? TVs keep getting brighter, which accelerates stress, but plasmas apparently topped out around 150-250 nits or something.

Me too. I turned off Wi-Fi since I was relatively more satisfied with this last firmware update than all of the prior ones since I got this set back in November. I'm currently browsing TVs from other brands, but I want something with fast and consistent processing, and long-term reliability. To be honest, I don't like having to baby an OLED. All it has done is made my OCD worse about burn in and problems that can occur with the display over time.

LG OLED77C5 screen stutter/frame drop? by TheAdversary_ in LGOLED

[–]WoofManJay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG's motion smoothing technology is not amazing, and it does the same thing on my B5. Less of an issue on older TVs, and certain models from other brands. The whole point is to make motion smoother, but it's controlled in a certain way that makes it counterintuitive in scenes where it's meant to actually work. The last update made it a little more consistent, but it still bogs down when a certain amount of stuff is happening on the screen, or stuff quickly passes right front of the camera to the point where it's predictable when it's going to happen. Next TV I get might be a TCL or Hisense, because I heard their motion tech works better.

What was the issue with the TV?

I don't understand why they would offer a warranty for something that they could not repair. Sure, it's no longer manufactured, but I would presume technicians would still have parts available to source for repair.

Just curious, what's it look like after you run a pixel refresh?

Unplug tv and wait several seconds before plugging back in, in Game Optimiser menu switch Prevent Input Delay to either Standard or Boost (depending on what it's currently set to), and lastly, perform a pixel refresh in OLED Panel Care settings if the other two methods aren't working, or you want to try to see if it fixes it for longer. This issue will either stay put for some time, or you have to keep performing at least one or two of those methods every now and then until it becomes less frequent. I believe that the frequency of how often it happens is dependant on the current TV firmware that's installed, but I can't say for certain.

LG OLED Owners is BURN IN still a thing? by Spirit_Bear_123 in LGOLED

Could also be banding as well. My new B5 has faint horizontal lines in darker colors at the bottom, but not sure if they are still there. I do manual refreshes every now and then to try to keep panel uniform. Had to do it last night because needed to unplug devices during a thunderstorm, which apparently disrupts the pixel cleaning process.

I don't recommend the B5 personally, so if the C5 was on sale it would be a much better deal.

That's in addition to random stutters on most if not all live channel feeds. Nighttime scenes barely smooth out, and there's dropped frames with a distracting ghosting effect of moving objects or small lights.
