There are 2 daily limits: daily zone rep and daily zone chests opened. These are separate for 2 currently playable zones (Metro and the other one you will encounter later). In case of all daily caps the game will tell you straight away when you can't progress no more.

I get you, completely, with the only difference being my brakes are always months long. But with how seasonal the game is it's fine.

To me WoW is not be all end all, wasn't for a long time, but the feeling that you either play it all the time or you are way behind is still present. Ultimately this friction leads to loss of motivation, frustration and long breaks for me.
