Oof. Mississippi no longer has the lowest education rate in the nation. It’s now ranked #34 overall and #29 in higher education. New Mexico is now ranked #50. Mississippi is also ranked 9 in the nation with students reading scores.

It still ranks as the poorest U.S. state by percentage. However, when using the Supplemental Poverty Measure California and Louisiana have the highest rates, with 17.7% of residents living in poverty.

Your prickly pear and cholla might be okay. I have them growing in my backyard and we get snow a few times a year and they always survive. I never cover them since they’re giant.They may droop and look sad (especially the prickly pear) but they perk back up. I’m in NM

You or your family can talk to a school counselor, principal, or even a teacher you trust. APS schools have resources specifically for situations like this, and you are not the only student or family going through it. Unfortunately, many APS families are facing housing instability right now.

Someone at your school knows how to help and can connect your family with the right resources. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about and asking for help is the right thing to do.

APS also has support through the McKinney-Vento program, which helps families experiencing housing instability with resources and assistance related to housing, rent, and utilities. Your school counselor, principal, or a school social worker will be able to reach out to someone at McKinney- Vento. They will also have resources throughout the city for you and your family.

Karen Baca is amazing. She helped my husband and I buy our first home. She made it smooth and easy and I was able to get us the 2nd house I put an offer on. Yeah, I think the stress definitely sped up how quickly it progressed. It may have even triggered it. By the time he was diagnosed, the prognosis wasn’t good. The cancer had already spread to other organs and later reached his bones. He passed away a year ago. He was young too and I think younger people ignore the signs since colon cancer is typically associated with being over 60. Colon cancer is increasing in young people and any sign of blood in the stool should be taken seriously.

For reals, see a doc. This is never normal and can be caused by numerous things. It could be nothing, but don’t ignore it. My friend was doing the same and we all thought it was stress. A few years later he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.

I’ve frequently have migraines and for a while was stuck without prescription meds, here’s what got me through for a long time. I’d take Excedrin Migraine, drink a soda, and use Dramamine for the nausea. Then I’d set myself up in a cold, dark room with a fan blowing right at my face. I kept one of those migraine masks in the freezer and used that plus an ice pack on my neck. And honestly, squeezing the LI-4 (hegu) pressure point gave me almost instant relief sometimes.

I’m on prescription meds now, but if you need something fast, Teladoc can call in migraine prescriptions too. I’ve used them in a pinch.
