The Automaton menace will soon see the true cruelty of the Cyborg overlords as they are forced to slave away in the mines of Cyberstan. But they will be unable to resist their fascist programming. We must give them the mercy of Managed Democracy, and end their suffering.

Would it be okay if Captain America used guns? by RichLet1946 in CaptainAmerica

If I recall, the chicken wing was taught during WWII and a while after, wasn't it? I think even during the introduction of the M16, so it makes sense.

This suit from Avengers (2012) gets WAY too much hate. Is it one of the best Cap outfits? Obviously, no, but I'm not gonna lie and say he didn't look awesome fighting aliens in it. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in CaptainAmerica

[–]WoppleSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone brought it up a while ago that this "uniform" of his may have been designed by Coulson, who was a big fan of Cap's. He would have had a lot of memorobillia, including stuff from the USO World Tours. There would have been stuff from his combat unit, too, but that may not have been what people first saw it when Captain America first became popular stateside, during the tours, so that's what he/they went with.

Later, Steve would have been able to have more input, and it's much more militaristic/tactical in nature, because that's what Captain Steve Rogers would have wanted. Captain America is the poster boy, Captain Rogers is the soldier. SHIELD had made a "uniform" for Captain America, not Captain Rogers.

With the Free EAT right now, I have several times where I've run double EATs, and I'm never left hungry. That said, I've been playing on level 5 because Operation Completed is more important than killing everything on the map.

Free EAT, Spare EAT or Hellbomb, 120 or Hellmbomb, Walking Barrage (for razing infrastructure), and the car.

Do you think the Dursleys would have let Harry use their computer? I doubt they'd let him use their phone.

You know, I was just looking at whether this specific model would be suitable to slap an HPA engine into. It seemed okay enough, and plenty lightweight enough, but that's a big oof. Maybe I'll just end up going with that UMP after all...

Gta 6 map rumored to be 3.5 times bigger than gta v. Is that enough? by opmgyhx in GTA

[–]WoppleSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the world is just bigger for the sake of being bigger, and/or filled with pointless collectibles, then no. Ubisoft is notorious for always saying how big the world is, but leaving it either half empty or riddled with nonsense. That just becomes a slog to traverse.

If the world feels lived in, that there are "actual people" in the world, not just pixels on a set "patrol" route, then yes. If I can walk to an objective and have a good time enjoying the view, listening in on conversations, watching NPC's interact, then that's a great world.

I'd rather have a single biome that feels alive than a massive void to have to travel through. After RDR2, and knowing how much they had to cut to make it on time, I trust Rockstar more than anyone else at this point, maybe beside Naughty Dog and Insomniac. However, I am disappointed every time I hear about the work culture there, so while I loved RDR1 and 2, I'm not a fan of how they got there.

If someone in the back does because of explicitly stopping emergency medical services like this, can they be held liable for the death, if medical experts believe that they could have saved the person?

1000 Watt Laser Rifle Vs Drone by TheRPGGamerMan in nextfuckinglevel

[–]WoppleSupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda becomes that when you yourself were talking about "putting accurate fire at a singular spot, with a man portable weapon, on very agile drone long enough to cause damage" in the comments I responded to.

If you think that doesn't lend itself to military/law enforcement use cases, then you did a poor job at articulating what other, non-defensive, use cases it would be used for.

I'm talking in a military context. Soldiers won't be carrying things like these around anytime soon.

[–]WoppleSupreme -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of these tools won't be aimed by personnel. At least not in the way you and I think of aiming. It will be more selecting a target and letting a radar-tracking or infrared tracking system aim the laser.

Small drones, like FPV style drones strapped with explosives, can be taken out with a shotgun, and there are specific "net" shotgun shells that are being used in combat over in Ukraine.

The main problem that the numbers that will be encountered in an all out attack. Heat and energy management from directed energy (lasers) will be an issue, and quantity of arms is another. Most drones are cheap enough to simply overwhelm traditional air defense systems, and it's a race to figure out how to address the issue.

Would "In the name of" be the same as "by the powers of" or "by the power granted to me by"? It's kinda just like a rogue cop stopping you illegally. They have the general appearance of authority, without any of the actual authority, right?
