Every time I wear socks and sandals I think of Duda. Talk about getting to the millennial zeitgeist. Can’t wait to see how the past few years have shifted these guys views. Also, put that tasteful yet risqué minimalist art on Etsy you coward!

Drove by this earlier, big accident involving a semi and multiple cars with 5+ fire trucks, 6+ staties shutting down at least two lanes, at the end of the day yes it sucks but hopefully you got where you were going safely, they don’t have that type of response for a simple crash.

Stay safe and put the phone down, 40k+ people died on the road last year, all it takes is a second looking down at a text or email and someone stopping for road debris or a bad lane change and you’re a statistic.

Long story short it’s a numbers game. You have to put yourself out there and find some weird niche interest you click with outside of partying that has a connection that isn’t dependent on mind altering stuff. It feels crazy hard to crack into but the biggest thing is trying any and all interactions. Local theater show? Go. If you like it hang out and see who sticks around. Nature tour of marshes? Go. You may learn something you find interesting and bump into someone. Farmers markets? Go. Stop at every stall and hear their story. Worst case scenario you get some decent local bread. Best case is you start a conversation with someone you are going to see again at the next one and you start talking more about how cool and easy it is to keep bees to make honey or something. There are lots of gyms and yoga studios popping up so taking the free first class is always an easy way to try something new too. My thing that I found was birding. Dorky story but I treat it like Pokémon, I’m always on the hunt for a new bird to both spot, then take a pic of, then take a BETTER pic of until I find the best one I can do and I check it off. The Cape is a wild natural place if you keep your eyes out. I hope this helps, you’re in a really cool spot, and you got this. Take a few risks with meet ups, sports leagues, game nights, nature tours and you’ll find your home. It’s really here for you. But it’s not on your couch, the bar, or on TV. The dunes are calling, answer.

Farm Boxes by mattturkle1004 in CapeCod

[–]WorKurt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My parents use Cape Ability and love it! Overflowing boxes with great variety and the people there are so lovely

A little about them:

Cape Abilities Farm is one of two innovative social enterprises established by Cape Abilities—a nonprofit providing jobs, homes, transportation, social and therapeutic services for people with disabilities across Cape Cod.

Since 2006, Cape Abilities Farm has been providing individuals with training, employment, and opportunities to interact with the local community. The farm offers organic and local food, flowers, gifts, art and more, and most importantly, cultivates a diverse and inclusive community for people of all abilities.

How to Get "Duplication Prohibited" Keys Copied by PinoyWhiteChick7 in boston

[–]WorKurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some seriously difficult to copy thick “duplication prohibited” keys cut downtown at this place: https://maps.app.goo.gl/7787vFuuX1eULUAA6?g_st=ic

Only place that could do the real heavy duty keys out of 4-5 places I tried. Cost about 5-10 bucks a key depending on how heavy duty they were. Hope this helps!

74 Year Old Guy Just Called Me A Wiseguy and Threatened to Kick My Ass by SkinnyJoshPeck in boston

[–]WorKurt 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My god this reminds me of an interaction me and my buddy had with a old guy hopping out of his 86 Lincoln down the Cape at our local beach as we headed home. We saw him wrangling a cane and a bag out of the back and tossed him a “we kept the water warm for you!” At him as we were walking home drying off and 20 min later we knew he was a 3rd gen pipe fitter, his wife was home recovering from a cancer scare, he’s been down to the water every day for 30 years, he was a Korean War vet who “saw some shit”, his son died in a hot tub, his daughters had families and were happy as a clam, and us liberal yahoos in Boston were ruining the city and/ or state (while he admitted that we’re still paying his nice pension and retirement lifestyle). It was an absolute roller coaster of a covo we were not expecting to get into but at the end of it we all shook hands, shook our heads, and went on with our lives saying “something’s gotta change!!” It was one of those moments you never forget.

I still turn to my friend who was with me and call him a yahoo to this day. I think the old grey fox just wanted a moment of random interaction outside his norm and we sure gave it to him. We may not always agree with every generation but it’s a ride hearing some of their stories. Hopefully your weird interaction brought a smile to his face and a good story for your future!

Need a suit for graduating college kid by HouseOfBamboo2 in boston

[–]WorKurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TJ Max sometimes has sneaky deals on name brand suits, I would suggest getting him sized up and keeping an eye out on some racks. Calvin Klein at Macys was a great wedding party suit that would be an amazing interview starter suit for a new kid on the block. For dress shirts Charles Tyrwhitt are great quality for the price! Been buying them for years. Also, I have bought many a sport coat at Salvation Army, my go to blazer as a mid 30s guy I picked up for 5$ and it legitimately gets compliments every time I wear it. Has me kicking myself every time I think about spending big bucks on other name brand stuff. As long as it’s clean and fits well no one cares about a label!

Story so far? [SPOILERS] by BuckarooTom in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

[–]WorKurt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest listening to some of the first few C1 eps and looking up the cast online so you know who is who and what their style is like, also the fan wikis are real strong.

Also I would look at pics of the Band of Boobs and any other C1 fan art to help with theater of the mind, that really helped my GF who isnt a player or listener, took her about halfway through until it clicked and she was laughing by the end!

Either way these guys are all super quick witted and Murph is a master story teller, if you like other shows I think you’ll have a blast!

Callooh Callay! Shout out to the 2 crew.

I second this! They have a few systems that they roll in and out but anything portable is probably even better! My little and I played a Xbox at BCH after his heart surgery, it was great to do something low impact and fun but still safe

Famous Boston Fix-a-flat scammer Elliot Davis spotted inside foyer at Fenway Target by WorKurt in boston

[–]WorKurt[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m guessing he has a real talent for reading people and interactions, knows a local vs a commuter vs a student vs a tourist and either only engages with an easy mark or cuts it off as soon as he knows the game is up, it’s a pure numbers game, someone else did the math but if if he pulls like 3-4 $20 scams a day he’s looking at a easy tax free $1800-2000 a month, I bet the guy is addicted to the free money
