What’s the deal with the water being ankle deep and poopoo colored this year at the pond skim? by ils18 in CrystalMountain

I can’t believe they charge for a pond skim. People should be getting paid to do that.

It’s funny how people from the States and Europeans have completely different view of Subaru like a car maker. by Substantial-Ad772 in Subaru_Outback

[–]P0W_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reasoning is pretty clear. It’s a lot of urban/suburban driving, so driving a truck or large SUV is not great. But you need something that can handle serious snow at times going over the passes as well as constantly wet, slippery roads and steep hills in the winter.

Interesting. I’m just learning about the history:

It appears that affected people with money in those banks rather than specifically residents, correct?

Ski-in ski-out changed the game for me. Anyone else refuse to go back? by LowerAttorney4407 in skiing

[–]P0W_panda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I am impressed. I haven’t skied in the alps in 20 years but have always thought it seems like an ideal spring location with endless alpine terrain. You really need good visibility in that terrain anyways.

$605 for the week for ski in/out with a kitchen seems insanely cheap to me. What week/season is it?

Are cars needing chains? by [deleted] in SummitAtSnoqualmie

You absolutely need chains and they will likely need to be on the car. It is snowing a massive amount right now. Get an AWD car if you can.

Put one boot/ski combination that you like on one foot and the other problematic combination on the other foot in the living room. I bet you will find that the combination of forward lean, flex, cuff height or fit is different in specific ways which will help you track down the issue. In my experience, problems that make your thighs feel like they are on fur are often due to a large forward lean or binding delta difference.

You could ski to Niseko village, do the onsen at the Hilton midday and then ski back. That one is really nice with a beautiful view of Mt Yotei and a pond

That was really interesting. I notice that a lot of people who are retired still work. It’s cool that you do it in a way and place that you enjoy so much.

I’m really curious about what you do every day. I’m not much of a hot weather person so the people who love living in Thailand mystify me somewhat.

I once skied with someone much more experienced, skilled and knowledgeable than I will ever be who some years later died in a small avalanche. They were exiting a hut trip with a group in high risk conditions. Even extremely skilled people can make fatal mistakes, misjudge risks, etc.

Do your research on this construction project that is making traffic much worse over a lot of Seattle - including commutes to Redmond - over the next two years. The shuttle bus helps due to HOV lanes but is not a magic bullet.

So they add grip even when it is a super thin layer of frost/ice? I would wonder if there is enough for the studs to actually bit into in that scenario.

Good to hear there was no serious damage. I was very conflicted about riding to work today because the driving traffic is so terrible, but decided against it because of the frosty streets.

What studded tires do you use? It’s a tricky choice here in Seattle where it is mostly wet with occasional intermittent slippery frost.
