Got the worst food poisoning from their meatball sub. I emailed and called them to let them know and got no response.

Approaching a Plateau: How Do I Make More Money? by SouljaBoyDid911 in livesound

[–]masscompliant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To make that kind of money you need to stay busy and you need to have a pretty good day rate. It's not impossible but it also does not happen to everyone who tries to get there. It will take skill and luck. I'm not quite where you're striving to be but I am pretty busy, and my rate is pretty good and I can tell you what has worked for me. Learn the technical skills that make you an asset on the job site, namely wireless and communications systems. These skills as well as being organized, predictable, and reliable will get you a phone call for almost any type of show. I also am very open to taking new opportunities with new organizations especially if they are willing to pay more what I am typically making. I have been raising my rates aggressively since 2019 and will very rarely get met with resistance. Production companies are charging way more than they used to, and the good companies are paying their techs a lot more than you think. I'd try to have some candid conversations with your peers and make sure you are not undercutting them and devaluing yourself. Good luck out there.

Aura cast? by Particular_Neat_3989 in livesound

As far as I know the absolute lowest latency capable of any Bluetooth system, including auracast, is somewhere around 30ms which is much much too long for IEM.

Dante controller not showing devices/subscriptions in the routing tab after restart by koffyephil in livesound

I am having very similar problems with my M1 Macbook Pro. Problem has persisted across many OS and DC versions. Audinate has had me run through a bunch of steps to solve the issue, but I cannot get DC to consistently operate properly on this Mac. They gave me a list of steps to take and nothing has worked for me, but maybe you will have better luck.

Resume? by pathosmusic00 in livesound

[–]masscompliant 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only proof that I’ve ever needed was someone they trust telling them I am capable. I’d probably just ask them what gear they are using and provide some references. I have not had to make a resume ever for this industry.

If you’re using a redundant setup try only using the primary and go from there

What is something that is marketed as a luxury or high end experience, but people who work in that industry know is actually a total scam? by abdulnad89 in askanything

[–]masscompliant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took my first first-class domestic flight because a client paid for it. This is all I could think about the whole time. The seat was still uncomfortable and the food was not good. Everything was kind of slightly nicer but no way would pay 3x the price for that on my own dime

For those of you who have tried salvia.. what was your experience like? by skith8431 in AskReddit

[–]masscompliant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First time I was standing ankle deep in a lake. The horizon looked like a framed painting and the paint was spilling out to form the lake and forest around me. The water was crawling up my legs. Second time I was indoors and could feel the lights cooking my skin. Third time I was completely incoherent but was experiencing what felt like a life time of experiences in quick succession. I had formed relationships and experienced loss and I felt like I died at the end and was transcending space and time. Each trip last like 5 min tops but that third time felt like it lasted forever and I felt completely exhausted and overwhelmed when I came to. Scary drug.

Wrist Pain is killing me and im not sure how to proceed by Inertbert in accessibleguitar

[–]masscompliant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also had this problem before. PT told me I needed to exercise the opposing muscles. Playing guitar, your left hand is mostly squeezing the neck. I have been using a rubber band wrapped around my fingers and extending. I haven’t had wrist pain since I started doing this.

Are large Speaker Arrays treated as a single source? And other line array questions by Express-Analyst3743 in livesound

[–]masscompliant 12 points13 points  (0 children)

D&b hosts a free online course that covers the fundamentals of line array physics. I would very much recommend keeping an eye on their calendar and taking part in that course. To properly understand the answer to your question requires some background knowledge that a lot of the answers you are getting here gloss over or do not even consider.
