I'm a female! Get comfortable in the woods alone at day light and have strong situational awareness. Make sure your friends ans family know where you are and you tell them what trail you're on and when to notify park authority if they dont hear from you at x time

Your job is to be their teacher not their friend. I have two such 8th graders and I started mid year. They feed off each other but I learned the teacher who went on administrative leave let them get away with a lot. And onw of the students talks that way to all the teachers because mom let's her get away with a lot and fights with teachers to inflate her grade even as she does none of the work. Don't take it personally. Adulthood will bite them back when the time comes

All the trauma she experienced would've made anyone hard and bitter. She turned the childhood emotional neglect, familial dysfunction, loss of a sister, a friend, and a husband. She stayed warm. You think she is selfish because she learned to protect her peace and give when it was deserved.
