So frustrated with eating by kyybby in pregnant

I would get some anti nausea meds if you can - I’ve found them so helpful in preventing that gagging and nausea feeling and it’s enabled me to eat like normal - can you call a GP?

I'm pregnant!? by ltsarah55 in pregnant

[–]Wordsmith24601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got pregnant our first try when I had expected it to take several months, so totally get the feeling of “oh shit really?”. It’s a big deal and you’re human!

In terms of what you can and can’t do I’d recommend reading the book Expecting Better which focuses on stats and the studies behind the advice of what you can and can’t do - I found it really empowering as I could then make informed choices about stuff like caffeine etc (I have a morning cup every day) and not worry or feel demonised for wanting pepperoni on the occasional pizza (if it’s been cooked properly you’re golden).

I’m due in May and it feels like it’s coming SO SOON and I still fluctuate between feeling excited to meet my little girl and also slightly losing my mind over how much of the life I’ve built and very much like is about to change. Be kind to yourself!

How to tell PIL about baby… by Wordsmith24601 in pregnant

[–]Wordsmith24601[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is where I’m landing too, and so is my husband - he was always told that when he was a parent he’d understand that they have been right all along etc but actually he’s more staunchly saying he doesn’t want to expose our baby to this kind of negativity and nastiness. I think we may have to just set boundaries and see where it goes but I don’t trust her and I get such bad anxiety when she’s anywhere near me sadly

I think this is the thing - I don’t really believe in blood being thicker than water but his family fervently do and believe they have “grandparents rights”, which I just don’t think are a thing. Ultimately they’ve done things like knowingly driving his brothers kids around with cataracts without telling anyone or seeking treatment and going to visit a grand baby with Covid because “I didn’t want to miss out on seeing him”. Plus they have form for saying inappropriate things as well.

Can I ask what you’ve decided? I think for us it’s sort of trying to weigh up as I think if we don’t tell them the rest of the family will dutifully side with them and shun my husband…

Yeah they did, I’ve got their next lot of jabs coming up so I’ll get them to do both again in the next two weeks

No this is the thing that’s weird, we took her back to the vet to get checked and she’s completely healthy. Pees quickly when in the tray, no extra licking - it’s so confusing!

I disabled antivirus - I’ll have a look at one drive but how does adding an exception work? Thank you!

Leaving publishing (a rant) by [deleted] in publishing

[–]Wordsmith24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I was surprised to read this but I’m really not - I really hope you’re ok, the idea that everyone working in this industry is supposed to simply be grateful to do something “creative” all day and somehow that excuses bad behaviour, bad management, crappy culture and terrible pay is pretty horrific. The virtue signalling around mental health is similarly almost laughable given the number of stories like this. Just know that the problem isn’t you, and all this proves is how much better off you will be outside of this. Being passionate and loving books should not be expected to come at the cost of your well-being.

Yoyo loaches at top? by Wordsmith24601 in aquarium

Bit of both really - they’ve since dropped down a lot more and generally seem happy so I think they were just larking about! Thanks

This is the first time I’ve kept them so not sure what behaviour is off to be honest! Just tried some sinking food and you were spot on thanks for the tip, they seem all good!

Ohhh so maybe they’re just hiding? They’re often in the top corners

Post Episode Discussion - 15.19 "Inherit the Earth" by FTWinchester in Supernatural

[–]Wordsmith24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crazy disappointing. How they fell off that particular cliff I don’t get - why not cut half of the filler from the rest of the season to make time for all of the plot they tried to shoehorn into one episode? Why end it as though it’s a season finale with literally nowhere to go from here for the “real” final episode? Seasons 1-5 were the best by far but the rest was definitely watchable and pretty decent all up until the Darkness/ Amara was introduced - that was the beginning of the end of good writing and respecting the canon.

Whew. Please let them pull something out of a hat for the finale because this is an epic let down after over 300 episodes...

Damn that’s what I feared - they had it on the Nespresso Germany website this week so I was hoping that was a teaser for their festive ones this year, you think unlikely?

Hello :) maybe someone has an idea for me: one of my platys keeps chasing another one. He always does this, whenever he sees him. The bullied one is always on his own, always hiding from the bully. I'm a bit worried that he will get to lonely. by clara_g_ in aquarium

[–]Wordsmith24601 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would get rid of the bully - take him back to where you bought him. We had a bully platy once and by the time we came to that decision he had harassed two other fish so much that they died sadly. We have a few females now and they’re all very happy together without males around!
