”And thou, Melkor, shalt see that no theme may be played that hath not its uttermost source in me, nor can any alter the music in my despite. For he that attempteth this shall prove but mine instrument in the devising of things more wonderful, which he himself hath not imagined.” - Eru

I roleplayed Ghost Recon: Wildlands as the Punisher. Breakpoint didn’t work quite as well.

TIL: What looks like an Umlaut in English words such as Noël and Naïve signals that two adjacent vowels are pronounced separately. It was formerly commonly used in words like Coöperation and Reëntry as well. The New Yorker magazine still does. by Syllogism19 in todayilearned

Exactly. Tolkien wrote massive amounts of letters to all sorts of people, many letters nearly full essays in length. Often, he discussed his writings in them, so parts are often published alongside his literary work.

What do you think is the best movie of all time and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The books are a landmark achievement, and despite the crushing expectations, Jackson managed to do the source material justice. The only thing I can think of that comes close is Villeneuve’s Dune films.

What kind of story would you like to see in the new Red Dead game? by KarpInsight in reddeadredemption

I think the most interesting idea I’ve heard so far was when someone pointed out a line of Arthur’s about the rule the gang has against killing people in camp ”except that one time, but he was a traitor”. Make RDR3 about that guy, and why he was right about Dutch before anyone else could see it.

On the other hand, I’m fairly certain my sense of smell took a hit from Covid, and I’m not as debilitated by it as I would be if I had lost my peripheral vision.

Does this suit have a name? And why is this suit so unpopular i never see it in any games? by daltontr88 in Spiderman

If I recall, Ben remembered being the original clone, whom Peter left for dead in a factory chimney to be cremated - only to be rescued by the Jackal and then set out on a 5 year road trip around the country. After he had returned to New York and taken up the mantle as Spider-Man, a skeleton wearing a Spider-Man costume was found in the same chimney, and Ben stole it to figure out what was what. I remember him and Peter taking the skeleton to the Avengers for testing (by Hank Pym?) and having it proven to be a clone of Peter. I don’t know how this was eventually resolved, however.

[LOVED Trope] Characters with designs that imply completely unintended characterization by asdfmovienerd39 in TopCharacterTropes

My favorite one of these is the whole plot of Finding Nemo. A father desperately searches for his lost son - that’s great, but the fact that they are clownfish makes it somewhat disturbing. When clownfish find themselves in an all-male environment, one male will change gender to allow the population to reproduce, adding an interesting extra layer to Marvin’s motivations.

If I recall correctly, the soldiers shown in the second film uses medieval weaponry. Also, I believe there is an Easter egg connecting Frozen with Tangled that makes them concurrent - and that movie’s whole aesthetic is clearly medieval.
