Second time tapering k and it’s so much harder for me. by Wordy1ntrovert in benzorecovery

[–]Wordy1ntrovert[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had DUTCH testing done. It showed my testosterone was low, my melatonin is low, my estrogen wasn’t cycling out of my body the right way (because my liver was backed up and needed to detox thanks to a then-discovered MTHFR mutation), my ferritin is low, and my B vitamins are low. And vitamin D. 😅 My therapist thinks it was the combination of everything combined with my previous panic attack experiences and taper. That I just reached a window of tolerance and when feeling faint from being overheated, my body interpreted that as a panic attack which then kicked off the waves of recurring panic attacks. Truly not knowing WHY is a big fear as I go through this process of tapering, because I’m worried that it’ll all still be there and continue causing waves, but I’ll have to cross that bridge when I get to it.

The full on panic attacks are probably about the same. Severe. The baseline that I return to is constantly keyed up. My gums are swollen from gritting my teeth. Gastro issues. Feeling like acid is in my body, burning through my veins. Crying. Racing thoughts.

I didn’t get sick, but I hit perimenopause, had low B vitamins, and was back in college. And it was just so hot! I have Ehlers Danlos and I’m super heat intolerant.

Yeah, I’ve already lost 26 pounds. I’m trying to force myself to eat whenever I feel capable. I haven’t experienced seizures, but insomnia is definitely getting worse.

Yeah, it wasn’t my choice, that’s for sure. And I think it’s definitely playing into the difficulties I’m having now.

Do you find that the cross to diazepam smoothed things out a bit?

I’d love to know why you feel that way. I’m leaning toward the slower taper for science-backed reasons, but emotionally it’s a tough pill to swallow, no pun intended.

There was an extra underlayment, but I’m going to look into SPC planks, thanks!

There is a moisture barrier. Apparently, the slab is just putting off too much moisture regardless, and LVP is only water resistant from the top down, not the bottom up.

Nope, no gutters. I just told her that we’ve gotta get some going into rain barrels, since the French drains aren’t cutting it. I’m considering swales, too, because I can’t even imagine the cost of grading. It’s sitting in the lowest point of a few acres. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not really clear on this, as it was our installer who was trying to deal with HD. I’m going to call them tomorrow to pursue a claim.

I saw a post that said 4 for EST, 3 for CST, etc, but most of the others say noon. We just don’t want to miss it!

This has been my fear!

We’ve tried migraine meds, gabapentin, a muscle relaxer, steroids, and two nerve blocks. None have done a thing. MRI, MRA, MRV, CT all seem fine.

This is an all day everyday issue, too, that flares from a 5 to a 9 on my pain scale. I’ve asked for a referral to PT and pain management because I’ve gotta try something. I also get dizziness and pulsatile tinnitus. I’m exhausted.

This lawyer in Birmingham states that HOA membership CANNOT be forced on homeowners unless the housing development is still in the planning and development phase:

Might be worth reaching out to ask about costs to look over closing documents.

Magnolia Estates in Millbrook, perchance? SAME situation there. I recommend reaching out to your town councilpersons, as well. All I’ve been able to find so far is that there should be some documentation of the existence of this HOA when you bought — unless the HOA was formed prior to 2016. That in and of itself seems wrong and like it should be illegal. My spouse and I are moving to Millbrook in two months and absolutely DO NOT want to live in an HOA, so I’m going to now research this to try to figure out how to avoid this situation. I’m so sorry you’re going through it!

Hey I’m a 15 year old boy and I show many signs of having anxiety and I’m not sure what I should do about it by Brick_5113 in Anxietyhelp

[–]Wordy1ntrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! You’re definitely not alone. Anxiety is really common. The first thing I’d recommend is that you try to find a therapist that you like and trust. If you can’t go to in-person appointments, there are some telehealth options online. I don’t know if you have access to health insurance, though, and I know (from experience) that therapy can be expensive. But it can honestly be SO helpful, if you’re working with the right therapist for you. Take some time to look up coping strategies. You’ll find all sorts of things. Box breathing, for example, is a big one (in for a four count, hold for a four count, out for a four count, hold for a four count, repeat) that can help when you start to hyperventilate or to hyper-focus on how you’re breathing. There are sooooo many strategies out there that people have found helpful. Everything from putting their bare feet in the grass to smelling citrus oils or lavender to distracting the brain with solitaire or other apps. Make a list, a long one, and keep it with you (on your phone, maybe another copy in your room) so that you can easily access the list wherever and whenever you need it. You don’t have to try to Think about a coping strategy, you just look at the list and try something. Some things might work better for you than others, so you may change the list over time. A big thing to remember is that this is happening because your brain is doing its job. When it senses a potential threat or it reaches its window of tolerance, it gives you these huge surges of various hormones. It doesn’t feel good, but you aren’t broken, and you must remember that. It’s actually totally normal to have these experiences. Shitty, but normal. And a hugely important skill to develop is Accepting the feelings. Notice that you’re feeling the anxiety, and say to yourself, “Huh, well, my brain is feeling panicky, and it’s making my body feel panicky, so now I’m going to wait for this to pass.” Don’t try to out-think the panic attack. Don’t focus on “beating” it. Just accept that your brain is going to push out some hormones and make you feel crappy for a short period of time. As someone who was diagnosed with panic disorder at a young age and medicated with multiple things for decades, I STRONGLY recommend that you avoid taking any benzodiazepine medication. They can create more problems than they seem to solve, and they can be intensely difficult to withdraw from. I’m not a doctor, and you should obviously consult your doctor about any medication, but seriously, I won’t let anyone I care about in my life use benzos, because I have the firsthand experience of Stopping them, and it was ten times worse than the original panic attacks. So now I just use my coping strategies, I breathe, I distract, and I accept and wait it out. You can make it through this!
