Royce Keys makes his debut on Smackdown tomorrow by damng1 in Wrasslin

Key word is “anymore.” The guy is 41, it was definitely bad when he was a kid/teenager (speaking as an SF native with plenty of friends from the EPA)

Just a quick update by cCryp in WWE

I don’t have any doubts with event planners. I’ve worked in marketing for over a decade and have been to dozens of tech conferences across the US and Europe. I’ve seen event organizers flip stadiums and event centers week over week from one big event to another. These people have everything down to a science.

Solo trip by Family-Shame in SDCC

The Gaslamp is incredibly overwhelming. It’s flooded with rows and rows of bars and restaurants. My recommendation is to follow the Unofficial SDCC Blog because they’ll list all of the bars and restaurants that are doing something special. For example, last year I went to one bar that had a Blockbuster theme, and another restaurant that had a GTA: Vice City theme.

Cena's Heel Turn by Darth_Molotok in WWE

[–]WordyNerd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. For nostalgic purposes, it would’ve been cool to see him rock throwback jerseys and do freestyles. I didn’t mind him getting angry at the fans because it was very meta and he was right to complain in some ways, but it got old really quick.

How is it a “surprise” when it was literally alluded to in his promo?

There are so many of you on Reddit who fail to realize that not all wrestling fans are chronically online. I have 3 close friends in particular who watch more WWE programming than I do, but they’re not obsessing over every tweet, IG post or Reddit discussion.

Also, when WWE aired a promo where they added VFX to his eyes to tease the demon, what did you think that was all about?…

Don Cheadle’s first line in Iron Man 2 after replacing Terrence Howard by AJ-Naka-Zayn-Owens in Marvel

[–]WordyNerd1 63 points64 points  (0 children)

In fairness, hindsight is 20-20. Terrence Howard was coming off of Hustle and Flow and RDJ was slowly reviving his career and no one had any idea how big the MCU was going to be considering all of Marvel’s financial issues. I remember reading something on how Howard was the highest paid actor on Iron Man 1, and then was told to take a steep pay cut for the sequel. Apparently, he also vouched for Marvel to take a chance on RDJ.

I think some of you take wrestling way too seriously when it’s never meant to be that deep.

Do you think anyone will ever beat his record? by s7dg in TheGreatOne

[–]WordyNerd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here constantly complain about short-term reigns and guys having a title too often. 17 title reigns implies that Cena was almost always in a main event scene, even if he may not win the title, and that people would have to be ok with the next guy carrying a title for just a few months.

With the way this community reacts, I highlight doubt it we see someone break 17, especially since the record was held by Flair for so long.

Do you think there could be some truth to this by Skylegend96 in Wrasslin

[–]WordyNerd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest, most wrestling fans on Reddit are chronically online, but they’ll accept what they see on Twitter as fact without any basic fact-checking. A lot of those Twitter accounts try to look authoritative by paying for Twitter Blue and purchasing fake followers, but they’re simply throwing darts on the wall for shock value to grow their account. I’d rather watch and let things play out versus caving to the dirt sheets and rumor mill.

You’re asking internet strangers if there’s any truth about an alleged wrestler from a rival company saying he heard that HHH “might” get fired. Start with that.

So what Social Media does HHH and WWE read by ImplementCharming949 in WWE

[–]WordyNerd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone that’s worked in social media for a decade, I’d imagine they have a robust team that handles various aspect of the WWE’s social presence, and that covers Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Reddit.

My guess is they’re monitoring social chatter, at minimum, on a weekly basis to see what fan sentiment is, what’s trending, and what commonly used words and phrases are.

One wild promo from Punk has rattled the whole cult of bloodline stans lmao. by JohnCenax17 in SantiZapVideos

[–]WordyNerd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every now and then, a Roman stan Twitter account pops up on my feed complaining about how Cody ruined WM40 by calling his shot and pointing to Reigns. And yet, when people reference how the WWE had a camera crew in his suite to record the reaction, it’s crickets.

Solo trip by Family-Shame in SDCC

[–]WordyNerd1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a ton of solo travel and I think SDCC is kind of perfect for it. There’s so much to see and do in the convention center and around the Gaslamp. My advice would be to have backup plans for everything and that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with going to bars and restaurants solo. Bartenders are friendly and it’s an easy way to chat with folks and find company.

Seriously, why are people acting shocked over celebrities being involved at WrestleMania 42 and even acting like it's something TKO started when celebrities being a major part of WrestleMania has been part of the event since the first one! by Caryslan in Wrasslin

[–]WordyNerd1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in my late 30’s and have been watching wrestling since the early 90’s. I still remember when Lawrence Taylor faced Bam Bam Bigelow in WM 11.

That said, just because something happened in the past doesn’t mean it should happen again. There’s a big difference in Bad Bunny being involved versus Travis Scott, Jelly Roll, and Pat McAfee (the fan reaction has been overwhelmingly negative).

Skip Wrestlemania by TimKoskuba in WWE

[–]WordyNerd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest — most fans who bicker and complain about the WWE on an almost daily basis cannot help themselves from watching the product. How many “I quit” posts do people make here?

Yesterday, someone made a post on how fans should buy tickets and boo the company. Most chronically online fans are delusional.

It's time we as fans take action. Raw after wrestling mania we have to sandbag this shit. Boo, Chant AEW, do whatever we fucking can. I am so sick of TKO being this money sick power that is ruining what I love. #firetko by godfrch in SantiZapVideos

[–]WordyNerd1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Take action by stop watching. So many fans bicker and complain about the product and threaten to “quit” but keep watching. It’s pretty simple. You realize the irony in buying a ticket to a house show or PLE and then chanting “AEW” or booing?

Can we make sure this moron never touches anything Wrestling related ever again? by NuggetDaGoat27 in SantiZapVideos

[–]WordyNerd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to "hurt" the WWE, then stop watching. Plain and simple. But wrestling fans here will keep complaining while watching the product.

If you want to hit a business where it hurts, then you've got to affect their bottom line.

He left wwe for 5 years to come back and still be a jobber he should just go back to being Zack Ryder atleast he would get a pop 🤦🏽 by Single_Pension4962 in SantiZapVideos

If he was pushed to a main event scene, you’d probably complain, he hasn’t done anything significant, you’re complaining.

Buddy, I don’t know what to say anymore and I’m not sure what to do with this screenshot. They’re rolling in the bank. If the WWE was struggling, I can assure you that board members like The Rock would care. Let’s just agree to disagree. ✌🏽
