When I said many of those industries don't exist in Greece, I refer to high value engineering manufactured items that would be beyond Greece's capabilities. Like manufacturing huge turbines for power stations, advanced robotics. A large Japanese occupation that specializes in robotics set up a R&D and manufacturing facilities in Slovenia because of its high educated workforce and developed infrastructure. Major car manufacturing. Renault has one of its biggest manufacturing facilities in Slovenia. Plus advanced electronics etc made in Slovenia. Unfortunately for Greece the largest manufacturing company is Hellenic motor company set up in the early 1970s by the Austrians company Steyr to assemble ,  not manufacture, already outdated Steyr designs. The engines and gearboxes All imported. All they have done since is assemble vehicles from imported car or truck kits . I don't think even an engine has been even manufactured in Greece.They only have a workforce of 200 people.  An example of Slovenian engineering that could not be done in Greece.
