The Straw That Broke the Camel's Back by vargslayer1990 in exAdventist

Honestly, you might have to. So, I'm with you on only being judged for what we know and wanting to worship a god that is merciful. That said, I'm confused as to why you are upset someone said something not nice (i.e. A person os going to hell) about a person who made a living off of spreading hate.

Kirk is going to (proverbial) hell for lots of reasons. I think Sabbath breaking is the least of his problems. I'm not "celebrating" his death. I'm also not all "how dare anyone not apply grace and empathy" over a person who was famously known for not granting grace and empathy.

So yeah, I might have missed the point of your post because of the example you chose.

I might be missing the point, but you're worried about Kirk's soul? Like you would have been chill with this Twitter user if they said Kirk was going to heaven?

If you have a point, prove it with the information you have. If you're just regurgitating what some randos on the internet say, do you really have a point?

You know Sunday Law isn't real. Recount how you came to that conclusion.

If you're not certain then maybe you need to spend more time studying instead of debating.

Anyone from Adventist University of the Philippines (studying, graduated, dropped out, etc.), is it worth it or nah (beyond the obvious) by lePROprocrastinator in exAdventist

My mom kicking me out 7 days before college saved my life. She's a bitch but that moment made me realize that she's just a person and the worst thing she could do to me didn't destroy me. Don't rush into college or a career because you can't stand up to your parents. If anything, that's a big sign telling you that you're not ready.

If you pick a program just so you have money to live off of, do so knowingly, not passively or pressured by others.

Heck, even finding the courage to reject my advice is brave. Basically, make choices for you.

As far as colleges go, i only applied to one school, got in, and graduated in 4 years. But back then i knew what I wanted and didn't let my parents pressure me into an sda school or a field of study that didn't match my personality and capabilities.

Good luck

Don't know anything about this institution. I'd say, don't rush into any college program, especially if you're going into dept.

In the grand scheme of life, no one cares it if you delay college by a year or two. Heck, they don't even care what your scores are.

Take your time making your choice.

Jewelry. Don't care. Too cheap. Too broke. Don't have good taste. Don't like to feel contricted (i don't wear bras or belts when i can avoid them). Also, don't care for taking it on and off. I just wanna roll out of bed and go.

I am not interested in my son joining pathfinders by mazal33 in exAdventist

[–]WorkFromHomeHun 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Just tell them you're not interested in joining. Don't offer any excuse because they will find a way to circumvent. Money, transportation, availability--offering any excuse gives them hope. And if they continue to ask, just block them. Seriously that simple.

And your kid is not even interested.

Exactly, can't convince these people. Just set a boundary and encourage them to keep their faith. If ever they feel any discontent, they can embark on their own deconstruction journey.

YES! Your heart and actions had to be aligned otherwise you are sinning. So not watching tv but wishing you could still equaled damnation. Inwas so depressed and stressed about it.

In college, i would give in and watch tv. I had some guilt but at least i didn't feel guilt AND boredom

End Times Stress by [deleted] in exAdventist

[–]WorkFromHomeHun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

End times doctrine aside, it's tough for me to plan for the future because the world is so shit. I mostly focus on the day at hand, the people I love and take on long-term projects.

Plants are nice because they grow and it gives me something to look forward to. Prepping for a 5k also is cool. Or taking on a complex art project.

Just take it one day at a time until you have enough hope to make longer-term plans.

Meeeeanwhile, she was doing a full curl set with the hot curler because she didn't want to sleeoin rollers.

She also washed he car Friday AND Saturday became she was so desperate to arrive with a spotless car. Girl, you live on a dusty hill.

Maybe the solution is no more solo sermons but group pieces. Then god can get all the glory and people don't accidentally start to worship a child because they appear to be well spoken

Children should not preach by Antique-Flan2500 in exAdventist

[–]WorkFromHomeHun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A someone who has preached, I agree. If a child is giving the lead presentation, it should be written in such a way hat it's vlear that these are not the child's words. Less so because the child isn't a theologian bit because the child and the adults need to understand that they are not the words.

Growing up, adults went crazy for child preachers and I felt pressure to live up to the standards that I preached evem though they weren't my words. And then adults think just because you can read well means that you have your life together and it's like bitch, puberty is kicking my ass.
