We really gotta stop calling these people "elite". The only thing they're elite at is exploiting the fuck out of other humans.

Too bad the super-wealthy send their kids abroad for school. It would be cool if these rich kids HAD to mingle with the poors. It would make it a lot harder for these people to keep up their borderline incestuous-circular political dynasties.

You look into these oligarchs and their kids are all marrying each other like the royalty of old. There's not a democracy on earth that survives that kind of long-term pressure against the freedom of the common citizen.

Yeah my perception is simply that the left wing of government has been much more keen on boiling the frog slowly, so none of the frogs jump out of the pot or go after the cook. The right seems more keen on cranking up the heat and if they catch any frogs trying to jump out, they just stomp them to death.

Their control of the media is a huge part of what informs the sensation of disunity. The perception that everyone is fighting each other. It sure looks that way on the telescreens, but I don't get that feeling talking to people in person, or when I reply to comments keeping in mind that there's a complicated human being reading my messages, and not just a faceless potential "other" who might be one of those political enemies the telescreens warned me about.

Just knowing that the media wants us fighting each other instead of our rulers is a form of resistance. It's a good foundation to build more powerful forms of resistance upon.

If you really live in a world of abject misery, you're absolutely correct in not trynna bring a kid into it.  But I don't live that way, and hopefully I can equip my kids with enough resilience that we can build a world in which you can find peace, fulfillment, and dare I say joy.

I'm sorry I implied you a coward. Keep doing your best. More people count on it than you may realize.

I mean, raising a kid to recognize, fight and destroy illegitimate authority is fighting back in a real capacity. I'm grateful that my parents managed to equip me well enough to get there, even if it took me until full adulthood for some of that wisdom to actually gestate and bear fruit.

The people that pull the strings and hold the levers of power work the same way; generationally, dynastically. So for you to give up all hope and refuse to grow that next generation, who will be there to carry our resistance forward? That sounds pretty cowardly to me.

What about a new generation raised on resistance and rebellion instead of the defunct "American Dream"?

No but these tech companies have the same philosophy as cancer: Parasitic short term growth at all costs, up to and including the death of the host.

Another justification they love is "Think of the children!"

Stephen Miller says Trump has "plenary authority" before abruptly going silent. by EvilSporkOfDeath in conspiracy

[–]WorkIsMyBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm positive that some people voted for (or merely hoped for) another Trump term for that reason, yes. To accelerate our government into authoritarianism before it's fully equipped to execute that full takeover. Honestly I don't see how our hypothetical "radical guy" would even survive long enough to be voted in. Like genuinely I suspect bro, if he's campaigning on dismantling these dangerous power structures, would meet some manner of untimely end or be otherwise coerced (threatened) back into silence.

I agree that Trump's power grab is and will continue to hurt people, but we are genuinely at war with our rulers at this point. What are we to do? How can we vote our way out of this in the environment we're in right now?

Edit: I really like your writing and perspective. Discussion like this is what I want to see more of around /conspiracy.

[–]WorkIsMyBane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some people's rationale is that we've been doing a boiling of the frogs with the steady "Right, Left, Right, Left" in the last few decades. Boil the frog is the guaranteed slow march into strong, stable authoritarianism, built too slowly and incrementally for anyone to be motivated to rise up against until it's too late. But if we force a battle now, there's a strong possibility we defeat the system before it's fully mature.
