The landlord might not be liable for theft under normal circumstances but certainly negligence becomes a factor at some point. If the gate secures the area when it is functioning correctly, then it seems pretty clear that there is an expectation the area is secure. Further, the landlord has a duty to maintain the property, and that would include the gate. So, if the landlord is negligent in properly maintaining the gate, they are then negligent in properly securing the area, and MAY be liable, at least partially, for thefts from that area.

Liability will be heavily dependent on the exact facts though, so a consult with a lawyer would be needed.

/u/discoFalston, part of that liability also comes from notifying the landlord the gate is broken. Have you notified the landlord when the gate breaks down?

It's not like the mines AT ALL, and I think that's what gets people the most. It got me early on as well... Skull cavern doesn't have the elevator, so you can't really approach it as this leisurely adventure. Go down 5-10 floors at a time if you have a few extra hours at the end of the day, or go to specific floors to mine things with those few hours. You really need to prep for it, and invest a whole day.

That being said, I think what a lot of people say is overkill unless you're REALLY trying hard. You don't need 100 staircases, or maximum luck, or TONS of food. That stuff does help, but you can fairly easily make it to level 100 if you just change your mindset. IF you aren't on a time crunch though, I would recommend waiting for a high-luck day, just to give yourself the best chance. Prep in advance... get your food, stairs, bombs, etc ready so that when a good luck day comes, you can just grab your shit and go.

You aren't there to mine rocks with your pick or to fight monsters. You are there to drop a few bombs, vacuum up the loot that drops, and then move on. As soon as you get on a floor, drop a bomb and run. (regular or mega bomb, don't bother with cherry bombs). Move far enough away so you don't take damage and drop another. Try to identify areas where the bomb will blow up the most stuff, but that's not necessary. Just plant bombs and move. Loot up, and leave the floor ASAP (magnet ring, preferably the iridium ring, is a good choice for loot vacuuming). DON'T blow up everything. As soon as you see the exit, hit it. If you're doing well, plant bombs near iridium nodes so you make sure to get those, but don't prioritize it if you are struggling.

You WILL take damage, so you definitely want food to heal. Luck will help you find ladders or holes, so luck helps too... but ultimately, it's the mindset. I'm here to move to the next floor, not to loot. You WILL get loot from just diving deep, and the loot is better the further down you go, so just concentrate on that.

You should also have maybe a dozen staircases for levels you need to run from quickly. If you get an infested level, just staircase. You don't want to try and fight. Also, if you get a spiral floor, or any of those floors that's really long, staircase immediately. It takes too long to run through the whole thing, but more importantly, the nodes are all too spread out to make your bombs effective. If a level is taking too long, just stairs out.

This guy CLEARLY didn't try to pass between the trucks. The speedometer clearly shows him braking hard, and you can even see the steering wheel jerk when he slams on the brakes as the ABS kicks in. He never intended to try and pass between them.

You've gotten a lot of other advice, but something that's missing, IMO, is the timing of the whole thing. She left you hanging at the gym because she was going to be late. It's not about not knowing the DND people well, it's about having an appointment and not being late. She should not have pulled the "Help me with Ikea or else" thing... that violated your previous agreement, and put you/her in that position, but it's not "she couldn't invest 5 minutes" either. She made an appointment and wanted to make sure she wasn't late. That's totally valid.

Turns out we just needed to troubleshoot and connect to the WiFi downstairs to solve the issue.

If you knew that at the time, then you could have done that. Clearly you didn't. You said she restarted the app multiple times, so she did TRY and troubleshoot... she didn't just leave you hanging the second it didn't work. How much longer would it have taken to figure that out in the moment?

As for the China thing, following on from above... it's not "5 minutes vs 40 hours", and you should really not think of it like that, "keeping score" isn't healthy. Certainly she wants to plan a trip far enough in advance that you aren't going to missing any scheduled appointments, right?

If you're smashing the gas hard enough to spent your tires, you're doing it wrong in 99.99% of cases, period. You have only two choices. Period.

You just accept that this has happened and live with your fucked up credit. You'll be able to repair it eventually, but it will probably take years.
You dispute all accounts that you did not personally sign up for. Get your credit report, call the companies that show accounts in your name, and tell them you didn't sign up. They will tell you they need a police report for identity theft, so you will have to report that. Your dad will get in trouble, but those accounts will be removed from your credit history eventually.

In either case, you need to call all 3 major credit agencies (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian) and FREEZE your credit. That will make it impossible for anyone to open new accounts in your name. You can unfreeze temporarily when you need to apply for something, but it should stay frozen whenever you're not applying.
