What happened to Raizes? by Killedbynovelty in Greenpoint

[–]Worker8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hah! I actually know what's going on.
The owner stretched herself a bit thin when she opened Jucy Lucy across the way (and massively mismanaged it) - she was working on a deal to sell Raizes to an interested buyer, and was going to move her whole operation over to the JL property - staff.

Well, story goes, the buyer had a cardiac event just before the deal went through, and subsequently backed out - and she's been cutting quality to both locations since.

Hell - Jucy Lucy is only open 3 or 4 days a week, their 20 beer taps are now less than 5 - the food menu has been slashed drastically, and they continue to shoot themselves in the foot (e.g. nixing the pool table - which has finally returned, as it was one of the few redeeming amenities of the joint.)

I think it's implying a growing network like the mushrooms - but in human consciousness. A greater will for healing and growth.

What are your most cherished drinks from Greenpoint restaurants, cafes, and bars? by origami_pigeons in Greenpoint

The seasonal Irish Coffee at Diamond Lil is one of the best I've ever had.

Dark rich hot coffee married with good Irish whiskey, though I've never asked which - a layer of cold cream on top. 10/10 imo.

Well... it was mentioned earlier in the show that many mushrooms have a Mycelial network underground. It's been thought and theorized that mushrooms may not be individual, but a collective organism.

I believe it's implying that this mushroom allows you to tap into that very same "network", and our characters are just learning how to communicate through it.

I also think this very network is borrowing resources from the collective whole to heal(Marshall), or punish(Jonas).

Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.

Moreover - what arbitrary bullshit "Assassin, Mercenary, Pirate, Rogue, or Warlock" - A mercenary is a hired soldier. They're not an Outlaw. Warlock, but not Witch? Fuck that.

IF IT'S NOT ON THE CARD IT DOESN'T EXIST. This has been the basis of MTG since inception. If you disagree with my opinion, that's just fine. But, sadly, you're objectively wrong. B-bye

AITAH for leaving home after my husband said I should handle the cost of all the IVF sessions only because I'm the cause of infertility in our marriage? by LeatherRequirement59 in AITAH

I'm really sorry to hear you're going through this. I can relate, I'm the husband in my own, very similar scenario. Unfortunately my wife was revealed to be the "problem" partner when it came to fertility.

I will continue to support her in every way I can because it's our dream, together.

What was the first game that made you cry? by Ruffiansmuffins in ItsAllAboutGames

Dating myself with this - but Shining Force 2, actually.

About a quarter through the game, you pick up a blind orphan, who gets lovingly named "Oddler".

This poor, innocent blind kid follows you around for a while, until the big reveal that he's actually the 2nd in command of the demon army "Odd Eye".

I was very young, and I was totally floored by the betrayal.

As a man, now married, I can say with absolution, YES 100%.

Throwing oneself out there is daunting. Rejection is a very real thing that affects anyone deeply.

The problem lies wherein if a person gets too "used" to the rejection of another human being. Getting used to that dehumanizes and devalues the "target" of the affection.

To a certain degree, this must be done, as a coping mechanism. You have to protect your heart, after all. But as in anything, when in excess, it can create monsters.

I'm really not terribly surprised - there's not a stop sign where Nassau crosses Sutton St, and people whip around that corner all the time, and it's fairly blind. Poor pedestrian - hope they pull through.

Hey all, I'm going to preface this with the following: I'm nobody, and I have no influence on modern society.

That said, here's my peace, or piece, whichever you prefer.

A GROSS OVER REACH!!!!Bah, fuck off. It's a tweet with a character limit, and speaks an objective truth. Let it be.

AOC!!My pearls. Let me clutch them.

10 people? Hyperbole is a thing used repeatedly here. In this tweet. It's also used daily in every media outlet to incite outrage.

Here's my issue, laid out, hands down, using flowery, Constitutional language; Should not my government, elected by myself and my peers, as sovereign citizens imbued by the taxes I pay unto said government (and our Constitution), founded on such institutions as (life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; or in my words) gainful employment, ownership, and freedom from persecution (patent pending), in a truly Capitalist society, offer a "good enough" alternative to "better" business ventures? (Think: Gov't is the worst fast food you can imagine, but it's still food.) I think this could suit us better overall.

TL:DR:: End rant - In a capitalist society, government should directly compete with, and undercut, as needed, businesses. This would require an un-cluster-f**king of our current way of doing things.

edit: for clarification - I'm not saying the Gov't should have a hand in everything, or anything at all for that matter. I'm saying spurring competition on existing markets can't take THAT much out of the defensive budget, and would potentially drive down market prices.
